On June 19, 2019, Ideum was honored with a Flying 40 award during a celebration at the Albuquerque BioPark/Zoo. The Flying 40 program celebrates successful companies in the Land of Enchantment. Companies are selected based on a broad study of metrics, such as revenue, team growth, and overall financial performance. Ideum placed in the top 10 for revenue growth. This is Ideum's fourth Flying 40 award. Notably, the award's design was inspired by the Albuquerque BioPark’s newest exhibition, Penguin Chill, developed in collaboration with Ideum. Penguin Chill is scheduled to open in summer 2019.

Ideum’s in-house Industrial Design team did a great job matching form with function with the new Colossus. The fully redesigned Colossus touch table, with a massive 86″ display, is now available. Like its predecessor, this new version of the Colossus has a 4K Ultra HD display, is hardened for public spaces, and supports up to eight simultaneous users. We’ve updated the touch screen and the powerful integrated computer system in the table base. The overall table form factor is sleeker, as seen in such design touches as the crafting of a slimmer cradle for the top display that sheds inches from the previous design (it is now only 3″ thick).

Eureka! This new EM Spectrum exhibit takes advantage of twin 4K UHD screens and all of the coding, user interface, graphic design, and content is entirely new.

For this exhibit, we developed custom software which allows visitors to view both terrestrial and celestial objects across different wavelengths. The exhibit runs on an Ideum 100” dual 4K UHD Pano multitouch table. All of the content was developed specifically for the application. Ideum conducted a multispectral photo shoot for terrestrial objects and helped collect the latest celestial images. We worked with Science World in Vancouver to find appropriate images for the exhibit and collaborated on the content and text descriptions.

The 8K EM spectrum imaging exhibit will debut in the Eureka! Gallery at Telus World of Science in Vancouver in late February 2015. You can learn more about the Pano 100" multitouch table or software licensing at www.ideum.com/

One of the most exciting aspects of multitouch technology is that it can allow multiple visitors to interact simultaneously. Using Ideum's own CollectionViewer, Ideum created an application that allows multiple users to view connections between seemingly disparate media objects. These connections extend to the visitors, who may find the object they’re viewing connected to an object controlled by a stranger across the table, leading to social interactions as well as virtual ones.

CollectionViewer is a multitouch-enabled image and video application that includes collection information such as description, titles, copyright, and author information. Ideum worked closely with the Vancouver Aquarium to extend this application by developing a "relationship engine.” It effectively adds a visual "tether" line between media objects. For Vancouver Aquarium, this feature allows visitors to see connections between seemingly unrelated media objects. For example, satellite animations showing receding ice are connected to images of the wildlife affected.

The Collection Viewer allows for omni-directional interaction. A small group of people can interact simultaneously, approaching the table from any direction. Media objects appear on in different places and orientations on the table randomly and will disappear if they are not interacted with. The exhibit is ever changing and never appears the same way twice, making the exhibit new and engaging on each visit. This exhibit is part of Vancouver Aquarium's Canada's Arctic - In the Grip of Change exhibition.

This application was built with the GestureWorks multitouch Flash Framework.
