a fairly simple (about 10 pins needed, mostly D and some A) interface for a color touchscreen. arduino powered (and somewhat slow) but ok enough for showing soft-buttons, labels, colors, pixmaps and such.
to keep things simple, I used an IDC connector pair on the TFT and made the LCDuino side the 'clean-up' side. almost all arduino pins are taken over by this device. I plan to have this system send UI commands over the uart/serial port to the main (other) arduino that runs the primary embedded system's function.

While in Selly Oak, I popped to use Selly Oak Station for the first time (not counting all those times passing through it).
This was on a late December 2017 day when there was loads of delays on the lines in and out of Birmingham New Street, including on the Cross City Line.
It meant that trains between Redditch to Longbridge, and Sutton Coldfield to Lichfield Trent Valley were cancelled and replaced by Rail Replacement buses.
Selly Oak railway station is a railway station in Selly Oak in Birmingham, England, on the Cross-City Line between Redditch, Birmingham and Lichfield.
It opened on 3 April 1876 on the Midland Railway's Birmingham West Suburban Railway branch to serve the burgeoning suburbs of Selly Oak and Bournbrook. The station area has changed considerably since the Midland Railway days and lost virtually all its original features as the station was completely rebuilt by British Rail in 1978 along with the others on this line when the Cross-City route was commissioned. Prior to the rebuild, the station had only received a limited service (mainly at peak hours) for much of the 1960s and 1970s.
The station is only served by Cross City Line trains, which are currently Class 323 electrical multiple units. Pedestrian and vehicular access is via Heeley Road, off the A38 Bristol Road. The station and line are on an embankment.
The site has recently been expanded with the addition of a new car park with 93 free spaces, making Selly Oak station a new Park and Ride site. Access between platforms is via a covered overhead bridge, with lifts available. The overhead bridge has views of Bournbrook, The University of Birmingham and the city centre itself.
Selly Oak Station is equipped with real-time information departure boards which were previously installed in 2006 by Central Trains. There are automated ticket machines and windowed ticket booths

2.8 inch Adafruit TFT touchscreen inserted into what used to be a novelty radio, running a bit of cobbled-together Python software in Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi B+ to display internet time/date, with weather and forecast from weather.com. The white stuff showing through either side of the screen is Sugru helping to hold it in place.
The mini iMac/Pi has wifi and requires only power to start up.

PS The Pi is too big to fit in the "iMac" case. You can glimpse it on the left in the background, connected by a GPIO cable. I might make a stand out of Lego and stow it underneath, as the cable comes out of the base of the mini iMac, where the batteries used to be.
