The Krimml Waterfalls (German: Krimmler Wasserfälle), with a total height of 380 metres (1,247 feet), are the highest waterfall in Austria.[1] The falls are on the Krimmler Ache river and are located near the village of Krimml in the High Tauern National Park in Salzburg state.
Krimmler Waterfalls is a tiered waterfall. The waterfall begins at the top of the Krimmler Ache valley, and plunges downward in three stages. The upper stage has a drop of 140 metres, the middle of 100 metres, and the lowest a drop of 140 metres. The highest point of the waterfall is 1,470 metres above sea level.
The Krimmler Ache is a glacial stream whose flow varies greatly with season. Its volumetric flow in June and July is 20,000 m³/h (about 5.28 million gallons per hour), while in February it is only 500 m³/h (about 0.13 million gallons per hour). The greatest measured flow was on 25 August 1987, when it was 600,000 m³/h, or almost 160 million gallons per hour.
After the falls, the river joins the Salzach, which flows to the Inn, then into the River Danube and finally to the Black Sea.
To ensure that tourists could see more of the waterfall without difficulty, Ignaz von Kürsinger, from Mittersill, created a path to the upper part of the waterfall. In 1879, the Austrian Alpine Club improved the road to provide a more panoramic view. About 400,000 people visit the falls annually. The misty spray of the waterfall creates ideal growth condition for hundreds of mosses, lichens and ferns. The surroundings are the habitat for 62 bird species.[3]
There is a negative impact on the local residents due to the high traffic level in a small village, and because of erosion to the road.

With all the moonshots posted lately I thought maybe another kind of eclipse could be a change ...taken at the Gold Coast this morning.
Totally overcast, and totally still. I have never seen conditions like this before (and probably won't again for a long time). It was the end of the day and I already had a few images that I was happy with. So I wasn't really paying attention. Plus, the egret was very far away, requiring a heavy crop. But looking at it on my computer screen afternoon, I was kicking myself for not appreciating the potential of this moment.

Il parco naturale lombardo della Valle del Ticino è un'area naturale protetta istituita il 9 gennaio 1974 ed è il più antico parco regionale d'Italia nonché il più antico parco fluviale d'Europa. È situato lungo le rive del fiume Ticino interamente in Lombardia e interessa le province di Milano, formando una cintura verde intorno alla città, Pavia e Varese, in un'area di 91.410 ettari compresa tra il Lago Maggiore e il Po con uno sviluppo in lunghezza di circa 100 km.
Il parco confina con il parco naturale della Valle del Ticino in Piemonte, creato nel 1978.

This is the damage on one of the peanut bird feeders caused by the naughty squirrel. He has eaten a massive hole into the feeder along with most of the nuts. Still, He's too cute so I have forgiven him.

Here comes a tranquil dreamscape set against Adelaide’s glowing horizon—think ocean blush, wind-kissed sails, and shimmering reflections that stretch into the future. Let’s see how it unfolds...for me this is exactly how i felt photographing at sunset on adelaide shores. I got the same feeling with Cable beach, western australia and mendil sunset beach in Darwin, capital of the Northern territory, see what you think, it evokes pleasure in me!!!

It was a beautiful clear day to observe the total Solar eclipse. Fifteen observers landed on an uninhabited small island in the Montebello group near where the UK had three nuclear shots in the 1950s. The eclipse was bright and beautiful with a Solar max type corona and in short exposures several bright activity as visible including a looping prominence on the top left side. We had 63.7 seconds near the center line and it went by in a flash. Paul Maley who holds the record for observed eclipses organized the wonderful and private site and Coral Expeditions got us there. The capture was accomplished with a Nikon Z7II, Nikon 400 mm F4.5 lens with a 1.4X teleconverter. The camera was mounted a Manfrotto gear head to follow the Sun manually.
This is the once beautiful little Sierra Mountain town of Greenville. Literally wiped off the map within about an hour's time,, by The Dixie Fire.
The inhabitants of this little hamlet are now refugees, evacuees, from a war zone.... a war with Mother Nature.

While in our Solar system, a total eclipse like the Great North American Eclipse of April 8 is an extremely rare sensation, it is a way more frequent (regular, even) occurrence in the Egglar system. There, a total eclipse often can be seen every Sunday morning. Sometimes, these total eclipses even happen twice or more times a week.
Since in Germany, the April eclipse wasn't even visible as a partial eclipse, and the next total eclipse, visible only in Southern Germany, will happen in... 2081 (and Northern Germany? 2135!), I can safely say I won't see either. So I decided to create my very own eclipse for "Egg".
For the sun, I used a whole uncooked egg, backlit by an LED lamp placed right behind it. A smaller, cracked piece of eggshell served as the moon. At first, I had put a smaller egg in front of the "sun", but the round edges were too soft to create this nicely defined shape the moon had in the real eclipse. The cracks in the smaller piece of eggshell also helped in making the "moon's" upper edge better visible in the image because they caught on/let through a little bit of the backlight.
To achieve a good sharpness and definition on both the sun and the moon I had to do focus stacking/bracketing. The in-camera focus stacking didn't work that well with this rather difficult setup, so I did focus bracketing instead. When the camera is set on focus bracketing, one can technically take up to 999 single images. Which I thought was a slight stacking overkill, so I made do with 99 images of which I used about 40 which I combined in Helicon Focus (A, R8, S1).
Size info: The part of the whole egg that is visible in the frame is 4,5 cm/1,77 inches.
