Chaque jour, passant devant lui, ses arbres aux mille nuances me saluaient, et je sentais comme un bond de joie dans mon coeur.

With all the moonshots posted lately I thought maybe another kind of eclipse could be a change ...taken at the Gold Coast this morning.
El "anochecer" del eclipse total de Sol sobre las montañas de la cordillera Cantábrica en el Puerto de Pajares, frontera de Asturias y León.
Cerca de minuto y medio pudimos contemplar este bello paisaje montañoso bajo la luz residual de un Sol cubierto por la Luna en su totalidad.
Momentos irrepetibles en una vida y que hemos podido vivir y fotografiar en este lugar.
The "evening" of the total solar eclipse over the Cantabrian Mountains at the Pajares Pass, on the border between Asturias and León.
For nearly a minute and a half, we were able to contemplate this beautiful mountain landscape under the residual light of a sun completely obscured by the moon.
Unrepeatable moments in a lifetime, which we were able to experience and photograph in this place.
I was relaxing and doing a crossword puzzle when my phone dinged. It was Don with this message "Cooper's Hawk is NOW on pigeon carcass" Wow! In our backyard!! This hawk was totally oblivious to us as both of us captured multiple shots of him eating his prey. At this moment he is still sitting in our yard next to the pigeon. I think he is so full he can't fly yet. He has been there 2 1/2 hours. What an experience.

For Macro Mondays 'Damage' theme.
This is the damage on one of the peanut bird feeders caused by the naughty squirrel. He has eaten a massive hole into the feeder along with most of the nuts. Still, He's too cute so I have forgiven him.
This was somewhat after the moon came out of total lunar eclipse, shot from my back yard in WA, USA.
Shot with 300mm lens and 1.4x telecon, cropped.

While in our Solar system, a total eclipse like the Great North American Eclipse of April 8 is an extremely rare sensation, it is a way more frequent (regular, even) occurrence in the Egglar system. There, a total eclipse often can be seen every Sunday morning. Sometimes, these total eclipses even happen twice or more times a week.
Since in Germany, the April eclipse wasn't even visible as a partial eclipse, and the next total eclipse, visible only in Southern Germany, will happen in... 2081 (and Northern Germany? 2135!), I can safely say I won't see either. So I decided to create my very own eclipse for "Egg".
For the sun, I used a whole uncooked egg, backlit by an LED lamp placed right behind it. A smaller, cracked piece of eggshell served as the moon. At first, I had put a smaller egg in front of the "sun", but the round edges were too soft to create this nicely defined shape the moon had in the real eclipse. The cracks in the smaller piece of eggshell also helped in making the "moon's" upper edge better visible in the image because they caught on/let through a little bit of the backlight.
To achieve a good sharpness and definition on both the sun and the moon I had to do focus stacking/bracketing. The in-camera focus stacking didn't work that well with this rather difficult setup, so I did focus bracketing instead. When the camera is set on focus bracketing, one can technically take up to 999 single images. Which I thought was a slight stacking overkill, so I made do with 99 images of which I used about 40 which I combined in Helicon Focus (A, R8, S1).
Size info: The part of the whole egg that is visible in the frame is 4,5 cm/1,77 inches.

Total Obscurity - It's common for the fog to be so thick that you can't see the towers or even the roadway.
"Karl the Fog" - The famous San Francisco fog often engulfs the bridge, creating dramatic, moody scenes where only parts are visible. Conditions change rapidly; one side of the bridge or bay might be clear while the other is socked in.
