A star tortoise at the National Zoo

It's not uncommon to see tortoises stroling across the road - on one journey we saw about 10. This one was making its way up a concrete slope with a high kerb and no vegetation. After it nearly got squished by a pasing car we thought it best to lift it into some greenery.

These two sea tortoise were hanging out on the black sand beach, despite the fact that many people were very close to them.

It just finished raining and I guess the cloud cover keeps it from getting too hot in his/her shell.
