The Torch Light Parade is a long running tradition in Red River, NM. I was standing on the deck of the bar just before the start of the parade next to a 10 or 11 year old boy. I asked him if he was from Red River. He said "Yes. I used to ski the parade, but I'm retired." I guess these kids must start skiing about the age of 3!
This torch sculpture stands between a building used by a Biotech company, based on science, and the headquarters of the Oxford diocese of the church of England, based on faith. The 2 building facades are virtually identical, yet there is a division: one might ask if a division should exist between science and faith?

I was trying to take pictures of this Torch in the backyard. They are at the top of a long and thin base so they move easily...even with the air....i wanted a close up on a cute detail so i had the Macro option on, arms close to my body...ready to shoot. When i had the finger in the shutter the torch starts moving like crazy.....no air...weird... I stop, hold the torch on the base until it's not moving. All the ritual again, not moving, not breathing, everything on focus, finger on the shutter readdddddd....Oh! Moving again!!! WTF?!?!?!?! 4 times, yes, i counted them all. I feel something in my leg and there she is...Rainbow rubbing her fat body against the base of the torch every single time!!!!!!!.....damn cat!
She needed attention and she got it. I love her so much.
