interesting toothpaste - one had some kind of "milk calcium" filling in it. Another, has a "red hot invigorating spicy flavour".
This is a project where I posted a twit on twitter saying "for the next 100 people that add me on twitter ( twitter.com/marchorowitz ) I'll send you a small drawing." I think it's a nice analog way to connect analogly in a digital space.
This is one of the drawings that was sent out. It was also exhibited with all the other drawings in the series as part of a group show called "The Future Is Not What It Used To Be."
Shutter Speed - slow
Movement - frozen
Aperture - medium
Depth of Field - narrow
Light - quantity is small, quality is contrasty and direction is from 3/4 back.
Colour - I really wanted the focal point to be the toothpaste tube hue and this worked better in darker lighting. I experimented with a lighter setting (slower shutter speed) but this took the toothpaste too much out of the focus.

I did this in my printmaking class -- which sort of made me want to switch and study printmaking instead of painting. I didn't, but I still wish I did more printmaking. That's why I screenprint these days. I love the possibility of high-quality, detailed multiples that printmaking presents. Maybe I'll get lucky someday and a printing press will fall in my lap.
We have been using Tom's of Maine toothpaste, but I was getting a bit sick of it and wanted my teeth to feel minty fresh again. Tom's is great and I love the company, but sometimes I just don't feel like my mouth is that clean. Clifton disagrees.
