The TimeRadarTrees visualization technique can be used to represent weighted dynamic compound digraphs, which express a sequence of directed and weighted graphs where the nodes correspond to leaves in a hierarchy.
The TimeRadarTrees approach shows the information hierarchy as a traditional node-link diagram, but in a radial style. Each graph is represented as a slice on the inner circle and corresponding slices on the smaller outer circles, which we call thumbnails. The inner circle shows the incoming edges, the thumbnails represent the outgoing edges. Many interaction features as well as smooth animation help the user to explore a given data set. Filter functions as well as detail-on-demand per mouse tooltips are also integrated.
The visualization is a novel dynamic graph representation and innovative in a way that it eliminates all visual clutter that is caused by edge crossings. Moreover, it is able to concurrently visualize a whole sequence of graphs and, by the way, creates very aesthetical images.

When I'm at the GDTD Office I plug my laptop into a 1280x1024 flat-panel display, and I've set X to use the new display instead of the laptop's local flat panel. Here's my first desktop. Three Konsole windows, one to our two work servers, one to the local machine, and one to my home box running GNU Screen + irssi. Amarok's tooltip shows on the kicker, Amarok being the hottest media player ever.

Although the TMDb 2.0 update design wise was a quick little 'face lift' and I talk about a big redesign coming this year. There are some things that are still slightly annoying.
You can rate a movie by hovering over the stars and clicking on the chosen amount (up to ten). Thing is, it leaves you counting stars so, here I am considering a little tooltip to indicate the rating you are about to give it.
NOTE: Yeah, yeah, shuddap. Please ignore the fact it is 9.5 stars in the mockup image (should be 8.5)...seems I need the counter as well!!

The 6 "technically defined dimesions of color experience":
Brightness / Luminance is the subjective appearance of how bright an object appears given its surroundings and how it is illuminated.
Lightness is the subjective appearance of how light a color appears to be.
Colorfulness is the degree of difference between a color and grey.
Chroma is the colorfulness relative to the brightness of another color that appears white under similar viewing conditions. This allows for the fact that a surface of a given chroma displays increasing colorfulness as the level of illumination increases.
Saturation is the colorfulness of a color relative to its own brightness.
Hue is the degree to which a stimulus can be described as similar to or different from stimuli that are described as red, green, blue, and yellow, the so-called unique hues.
At a glimpse, you can see how many metrics each resident has (the number of little blocks) and how well they were on the last update (the colors). For a detailed look, a tooltip-type box appears when hovering over an individual status widget. More information
