Covenanters’ conventicle tokens, cast in lead from stone moulds, for open air services conducted by ministers who had been forced to leave their
churches. The tokens were used to give admission to communion and are cast with fragmentary texts:
Give me Thy Hart
I am the Vine
I am the Way
I am the bred of Lyfe
Holiness to the Lord
The Finish Tokens person is responsible for handing out finish position tokens to all finishers in the correct sequence. This role calls for nimble fingers and grace under pressure. They can be assisted by Finish Tokens Support.
At many events there are so many participants, the task of handing out finish position tokens would be too much for one person, so it is a double act, with Finish Tokens support working closely with Finish Tokens.
For example, they will prepare the next set of tokens for Finish Tokens, who won't have time to do this themselves. It's also reassuring for Finish Tokens to know that they're supported.
where semahore signals are stil in use i have seen this token in a leather pouch on a round hoop being handed to and thrown form locomotives on various historic tran dvd's i have . i never knew what the token actually looked like . this is in the hands of the signal man of birdhill station who was about to hand it to the driver of our rail tour .

I don't believe in Creative Commons, so please just don't ask (Lawrence Lessig can bite me). Any un-permissioned uses will be promptly "tended to."
All photos permissioned for reprint will need to credit both myself, and the artist who made the piece(s) featured. If I have not cited the artist in this image, I will do that research to determine who that credit will need to go to.
If you are the artist or a non-profit or educational institution, I'll most likely grant you use of the image free of charge. If you are a for-profit organization or publication, I will ask for a nominal fee. I hope this is understood as simply a standard professional practice, and not greed. I believe in retaining the integrity of photography in print, and feel that freebie journalism detracts from the integrity of the narratives that publications have the duty to provide to the general public. There are always exceptions, but they are exceptionally few and far between.
Ok, diatribe over. Really, I'm nice.
