The only state highway in the United States that cars aren't allowed to travel on. It follows the perimeter of the island the whole time, and you're always right on the shore. It was awesome.
Why is it when I go on holiday I have to take a picture of a cute kitten? Else it would become a superstition of my safe return if it continues!
There was a farmer's market in Saugatuck, but this may have been the only stand with actual produce.
i think these were rfid'ed tokens. instead of paper tickets (as used in seoul), if you purchased a single-fare, you were issued a paper 'coin' which you passed over an embedded scanner before entering the train platform; when exiting, you deposit it into a slot in order to get out. gwangju's subway is brand new, and based on my one ride through it, used primarily by seniors and students who attend the university located on the one end of its single line. most gwangju-ites regard it as a useless piece of politically-motivated infrastructure.

My photo-summer wouldn't have been complete without a late-August shot of some sunflowers. It was hot, hot, hot that day, so I included the burning sun in the frame to give everybody a taste of that.
