My younger sister was born in 1990 with this strange toe deformity that no one else in the family has (that's considering eight kids altogether, not to mention the parents.) She let me photograph them tonight after Thanksgiving dinner. I was struck by her attitude about this. She says she doesn't mind her toes and is thankful that she can wear shoes and go through public feeling normal, as opposed to if she had a facial deformity. She also told me a story about when a friend of hers complained he had a big nose and she made him feel better by showing him her toes. She smiled as I took the picture...and knew I would want to post it here.

Mercedes was limping Saturday morning. Her toe had a cut on it, I suspect Josie did it, and it was infected. I took her to the old vet far away, and they said there was no abscess. They dressed it and gave her anti-biotics. I've cut Josie's nails.
Mercedes kept trying to shake the bandage off, It was so funny, but I couldn't video it as she wouldn't do it when I had the camera.
She's doing well. She's not too distressed. She is bonding with me. She was in terrible pain with her foot though. She made a lot of noise about it when I looked at it and when the vet assessed it. Poor Girl. The cut was across the tough skin of the digit. I can take the bandage off after 3 days. She had this Saturday morning.
Regarding her puffy paws, she is on 1 tablet (5mg) prednisone every second day now for the past two weeks. Her paws are ok, just a bit more puffy than when she was on the tablets every day. But if I stopped the prednisone, they will swell up again.
