Upon initial view from the east, the toadstool formation looks like a small scale Badlands: a series of conical dry earth mounds with stratified layers of warm toned earth, scored with vertical erosion grooves (like seen in the upper background of the scene above.) But after hiking the short, steep trail upward and over the ridge-line, the scene becomes infinitely more complex. In places shelves of denser horizontal layers float precariously above the conical mounds slopes, made much smaller by erosion. Jagged piles of broken slabs lie randomly about. It would be a great place to let your kids play hide- and- seek, especially if you don't mind them being nabbed by a rattlesnake.
Not sure if I'd ever seen one quite like this in real life before! Was quite excited and had my camera with me that day in uni so took a shot!

Only my second time using the Lubitel 2. Mine is missing the magnifying glass, making focusing extra difficult, so I just estimated my distance. I also used the Sunny 16 Rule, which was good practice, so it was kinda back to basics on this roll.
Went for a walk up the Merrick in Dumfries & Galloway yesterday. The woods on the way are full of these vibrant toadstools, which I hadn't seen before. All I could think of was the Super Mario themetune.
My partner had pincushions as a "like" on her profile so I decided to make a toadstool bottlecap pin cushion for her

A little toadstool brooch I made from felted wool sweater material.
I'm playing with my photo set-up a little. Normally I shoot my brooches in a bowl against a dark background, but I'm not feeling as "dark" these days. Any thoughts?
Evening light on a spectacular rock formation at The Toadstools. Located half way between Kanab and Page, getting to this beautiful and remote area requires about an hour cross country hike off the side of Highway 85.
