With clear skies during our last workshop, we couldn't pass up a good opportunity for Milky Way photography. We headed out to The Toadstools and captured this scene. The clouds you see on the left came in quite quickly and within just a few minutes had completely covered the Milky Way. It was fortunate we arrived when we did and all participants were very happy with the images they got. Milky Way rises behind the light painted “Toadstools” hoodoo, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah. Photographed with my Canon 5D Mark 3, using a 15mm lens (20 sec, f/2.8, ISO 6400). You can see a size comparison in the previous photo. Lit with one stationary F&V Z96 Light Panel. A small, gold-filtered, omni-directional, LED lantern (Ozark Trail 50-Lumen Lantern via Walmart) is behind and underneath the hoodoo for accent and backlighting. More details and techniques can be found in my ebook: www.NightScapeBook.com
Mixed series of five. After last night's torrential rain there were many floods around today. I had to abandon my preferred location and ended up in the local wood. There were a few nice toadstools around. Love the colour of this one, glowing in the sun.

National Rhododendron Gardens, Olinda. I had gone specifically to this garden to search for toadstools, and as I had been unlucky in the past I was determined this time to find one. I had almost given up when this perfect little toadstool caught my eye. It was standing tall and proud, alone, underneath a pine tree. It was the only one I found that day.
