I have this non-locking carabiner for many years - it's the first version of a carabiner, made of titanium in the USSR (actually, this one was made in Russia in 1992, but it was designed in the USSR). After a certain time of use, purple oxide layer got worn out. So, doing my test runs of anodizing process, I decided to restore its original purple color. Voltage was about 16-17 Volts. With higher voltage, it's easy to get thicker oxide layer and other colors, caused by thin-film interference.
Gate and spring are removed because only the frame was anodized originally.
All of the staples have been gone since late February, 2010. The titanium pieces will be there forever. At least until I'm re-opened.

This is the titanium implant screw that was inserted into my jaw back in March. It has been absorbed by the bone and is ready for the crown.
This x-ray shows tooth number 19 which is one of my bottom molars.
This tooth was not part of my accident 24 years ago but after 3 unsuccessful attempts at a root canal I had to loose the tooth.

While not exactly vintage, this was a bold attempt to produce a lightweight titanium chain in America. Unfortunately, this chain didn't function properly and quickly failed in the marketplace.
I just got these from the postman this afternoon. They came from Ebay and were only $68 including shipping. Wow :)
Got out the chain whip and lockring remover and went to work. I was done with the removal and replacement in about 10 minutes. Shifts perfectly on the stand; still have to wait another week or two before I can get on the bike for a real test, however.
