Lubenice is an ancient fort city on the island of Cres, Croatia that was founded approximately four thousand years ago on top of a 380 m high ridge that overlooks the Adriatic Sea. It is a small local center that comprises forty buildings and seven permanent inhabitants. Buildings in the city are constructed out of the same material as the surrounding cliffs and there are two well-preserved extant city gates on the North and South of the city as well a wall in the East.

It was nominated to be a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2005.

Tiny Tim Missile

The Tiny Tim air-to-ground missile was the largest American rocket in service during World War II. Loaded with TNT, it could destroy coastal defense guns, pill boxes, bridges, tanks, and ships. Tiny Tims sank at least one Japanese ship and seriously damaged another. During the Korean War, one Tiny Tim knocked out a key bridge. Visible in this partial cutaway are simulated solid-propellant sticks and some of the rocket’s 24 exhaust nozzles.

A tiny sweat bee accompanied by a margined calligrapher hoverfly and a very tiny gnat, all feeding on a common dandelion bloom. Lots of dandelions are opening after 6 days of heavy rain that finally ended a 38 day dry spell.
