We tried getting pictures of her in her Halloween costume the week before, but it was a total disaster. There's nothing like catching a photo of a little butterfly pitching a total fit. Ha ha. In her defense, she LOVES to walk and is just too young to understand that we stepped outside for a photo and not for a walk. On this day, she was perfectly happy to sit on a tree stump for me..especially since I gave her the sparkly butterfly wand. Too bad her little antennae were drooping. lol.
BTW...the tree stump is all that is left of our beloved maple. SAD SAD

Sam demonstrates the perfect art of dropping what was in his mouth the moment I pointed the camera at him!! These two bits of much loved fabric used to be a bunny and a duck and remain his faithfully best loved 'suckies' despite all the other 'entire' ones he has. He's had them both since he was a puppy, and seeks them out deliberately and carries both together to his napping spot.

I was sitting in front of my house. Taking pictures of the corner of the street, when suddenly my mom came back from work, and parked the car next to me. Defiantly perfect timing... way to go mom!
That cloud in the background was an unbelievable shade of orange, pink, purple and glowing like it was on fire. I saw it and figured I would shoot a shot or two of the car. I ran inside, got my equipment, set everything up and in the seconds before snapping the shutter, the light was gone. It was really that quick. I was so disappointed I figured I could use this photo as an example of missing the cue.

Tracy Lawrence was in concert in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on Saturday night August 24th. I was attending the free concert, but fate stepped in and I was given a "Back stage VIP pass and seating"! It was one great night!

Steer Wrestling or Bull Dogging is the quickest rodeo event that requires speed, strength, balance, timing, and precision, which makes it the most challenging event. The cowboy competes not only against the other cowboys, but against the clock to try and post the fastest time.
The cowboy leaves the box after giving the steer a predetermined head start, the cowboy and his horse catch up to the steer and running along side the steer, the cowboy will slide off his horse and grasp the steer by the horns dig his heels in and slow the steer. The cowboy will wrestle the steer to the ground and once all four of the steer’s feet are pointing in the same direction the clock stops. If the cowboy breaks the barrier that allows the steer the predetermined head start, ten seconds will be added to the final time.
A hazer is a second mounted cowboy who rides along the right side of the steer. The hazer’s job is to keep the steer running straight and prevent the steer from veering away from the bull dogger.

The first and inaugural Kilcock Kilomarathon 2012 was held at Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 30th September 2012 at 11:00. The kilomarathon is approximately 26.3 kilometers (a little over 16 miles). The race started and ended in Kilcock GAA club and took a left turn route out to Newtown, then Donadea The Range, Tirmoghan, and returning back via the Clane Road Roundabout to Kilcock GAA. The course was a testing course but good preparation for the Dublin City Marathon. The Kilcock GAA club and Kilcock Athletic Club deserve praise on a very well organised event - good stewarding, an accurately marked route, good after race facilities and refreshments. The race was timed by precision timing.

I was concentrating so hard to keep the camera stead - tripod was back at base camp - that their impending-arrival wasn't even noticed until they got into the frame!
Taken handheld for 37 seconds.
The AVCHD is much better but Flickr doesn't support that format (yet?).
Check out the perfect timing on this shot. This is me firing a hand gun. We snapped the picture just in time to catch the flames.
I went down to Honeymoon Bay with the idea of working that curve of sand into something a bit more intentional. It’s one of those locations where everything looks promising at first, but actually getting the elements to line up takes a bit more patience than you expect.
This was a single exposure using a 3 stop ND filter. Just enough to slow the water down without turning it into a featureless blur. I’ve tried longer exposures here before, but it tends to lose that sense of movement. This time I wanted to keep a bit of structure in the flow as the water pulled back.
The tricky part was timing it.
There’s a short window as each wave recedes where the water stretches cleanly across the sand and creates those soft leading lines. Too early and it looks chaotic. Too late and everything just flattens out. So it turned into a bit of a waiting game. Watch the set come in, let it pass, then hope the next one behaves slightly better.
Most didn’t.
A few got close.
