1934 RCA Victor Model 242 chassis, oscilloscope, LCD screen, wood, electronics, paint, video and sound footage of Murhut Falls, Washington

Digital video footage of Murhut Falls on the Olympic Peninsula in the state of Washington is displayed on an LCD screen placed inside an 1934 RCA Victor radio. The sound of the water is diverted through an old oscilloscope that shows what the sound LOOKS like in electrical form. The sound also plays out of a speaker and could be mistaken for the hiss of an empty radio frequency.

During the Time Based Art (TBA) event in Portland last summer. I stumbled upon this open rehearsal in the South Park Blocks after work. A muggy summer afternoon, sweaty dancers working hard under a large tent to master the steps of a new piece. That's what I remember about the half hour or so that I watched them. Ilford FP4+, somewhere around f2.8 - 4, 1/30s.

Rochelle Derlick's "Limitations of the body" (Scrap metal, twine)

In November 2013, nearly a year to the day of the beginning of construction, "a year and one day" stands proud and tall on the grounds of Longue Vue House and Gardens in New Orleans, Louisiana. Created to slowly be overgrown with plant-life (both indigenous and invasive) and deteriorate with time, this site-specific time-based artwork continues to evolve. Step inside this tomb and contemplate the cycle of life and death. Light filters through a water prism in the ceiling to create a place of passivity.
