Tiles or metal roofs? If you have larger budget you can decide to install tiles or metal roof. Tiles have very low absorption and very high strenght that provides higher resistance to mildew and staining caused by environmental factors.

Metal roof is the most expensive choice but it is also the most durable and trouble free available roof today.

Alabaster Tiles for sale from IndoGemstone.com

This is the ceramic tile top of our kitchen island. [Deb] first made the island by combining counter kits from Menard's; then she had me create a plywood surface to cover them. She specified the size she wanted, and I simply provided it. Then she proceeded to do the centerpiece, followed by the surrounding tiles. She used a tile saw, nippers, and grout, basically. The stone for the centerpiece came from Morocco. Once the tiles had set, she used off the shelf trim pieces to do the edge.

Once she had all that done, I wired it with a 20-amp dedicated line using ground-fault receptacles so she could run small appliances conveniently; the plugs are out of sight at the rightmost edge of the counter side as you look at it here.

Her island design features an indented area for seating at the opposite side.

Since this project, I got her a router and router table, and I'm certain that given the opportunity, she'd create the trim herself — she's gotten pretty handy with that thing. For instance, she did all the trim for the stained glass window project in the bath with it.

Tiling 'practice' area on the abandoned eastern platform.

With the eastern platform out of action for trains for so many years, TFL began to use it to test out signage designs and tiling methods, as well as lighting and poster glue for advertising.

The ads for DH Evans department store (now House of Fraser) in Oxford Street, Madame Tussaud’s and the London Planetarium dating back from the early 70s were visible on the tour.

The legs of this coffee table are a couple of wine racks purchased at a yard sale. I used a leftover piece of plywood, a bit of paint, and glued on tiles from a seconds bin. Tiles don’t fit perfectly? No problem. I just filled in the spaces with some floral stones. Wine can still be stored underneath in the racks.

Over 100,000 secondhand carpet tiles and over 111 colours to choose from. These are commercial carpet tiles sourced from high rise office blocks. Do it yourself and save time and money. Prices start from $1.10 each. This carpet tile is fantastic for sunrooms, kids play rooms, garage to room conversion, market, market stalls, sheds, caravans, annexes, dog kennels and canary cages. A $2.20 tile has a bit more wear than a $4.40 tile. Now a $4.40 tile is basically brand new never walked on. When you select the carpet tiles you want, you are more than welcome to mix and match a range of different colours and patterns. All our carpet tiles and cheap carpet squares are from high-rise office blocks and are industrial quality. They are clean, stain free and in excellent condition.

Our cheap carpet squares & commercial carpet tiles are re-used in places like:

Rental properties Investment properties

Hotels Motels Club Rooms

Holiday homes Bungalows Caravans Annexes

Office blocks Factories Gyms

Churches Shops Schools

Bowling allies Skating rinks Cinemas

Retirement villages Nursing homes

Film Sets Theatres

The best thing about carpet tiles is that you can replace stained carpet tiles with new ones (rather than replacing your whole carpet). You can pick them up, hit them with a hose, drip dry and then relay them (I even know one customer who put his carpet tiles in the dishwasher to give them a clean...though I wouldn't recommend this necessarily). McMATS tip: Get carpet tiles cleaned by a drycleaner for the best results. You get the maximum return on your investment with carpet tiles. Yea yea.

Environmentally speaking it takes 19kgs of Co2 gas per square metre to manufacture a carpet tile. So not only are you saving money and time you are also doing your bit for the enviroment, so well done.

In 17 years of carpet recycling McMats estimates that it has helped save the environment 43,554,000 million tons of Co2 gas for carpet and 7,125,000 million ton of Co2 gas for carpet tiles.

Exhibits in the new Rievaulx Abbey Museum opened on the site in recent years and displaying various finds and sculptural fragments from the abbey church.

There are few monastic ruins as beautiful as Rievaulx, the idyllic rural setting and good preservation of so much of the Abbey complex leave it with few peers, amongst the most majestic and dramatic ruined abbeys in the country.

The earliest parts of the Abbey church date back to the Norman period and suggest an austere building in line with Cistercian practice, however only the nave survived a major rebuilding campaign in the 13th century and this too has since succumbed to the hand of history, leaving us instead with the remarkable Early English Gothic choir and transepts, the defining features of the Abbey today.

There are significant portions surviving of the monastic complex, the grandest being the 13th century refectory. The remote location of the Abbey in part accounts for its good state of preservation, much less has been quarried away by succeeding generations following the Dissolution.

A visit to the Abbey isn't complete without a visit to the small on-site museum that opened in recent years and contains various interesting finds from the abbey-church.

There is always something melancholy about our ruined abbeys and priories, even the more complete ones like this. It is impossible not to mourn something of its faded glory and the cruel deprivations of Henry VIII's reign, but enough remains to enjoy this architectural jewel.
