One of many shots I took of one of the amur tigers at Marwell Zoo recently. My favourite animal from the visit :-)
One of two Bengal Tigers at the Nashville Zoo, they were both up and moving around today a joy to everyone who saw them. This and more pictures are viewable on my blog digiartpics.com/2011/05/17/nashville-zoo-at-grassmere/
(Panthera tigris) The tiger is the largest cat species Today, they range from the Siberian taiga to open grasslands and tropical mangrove swamps. The remaining six tiger subspecies have been classified as endangered by IUCN.
these tiger & cheetah's are my first effort with an SLR (that i borrowed) - which will probably prove fatal to my bank balance !

aka the ne plus ultra of Cat!
He's my mostest-favouritest of beasties.
All these images were taken at Marwell zoo last year. This is just a few of my images from there and i hope to post some more a bit later. It's a great place to visit but be prepared as it's all in the open and spread out.
Such a beautiful creature yet so dangerous. I'd give it a great big hug if I was not considered tiger food.
This week the Philadelphia Zoo placed on exhibit three Amur Tiger cubs which were born at the zoo this past May. Their names are Changbai, Koosaka and Terney. There are two males and one female. They can tell who is who by the markings above their right eye.
These shots were taken on a cloudy day behind glass and they were pretty far away. My plan is to try and get some closer sharper shots on future visits.

I must say, I really got annoyed at first that this tiger did always blink just when I pressed the shutter. But regarding the fact that the Tiger blinking is now my most favorited photograph, I'm happy to give you another shot ;)
Best viewed large.
Cats will be cats...regardless of size and ferocious levels, all cats love to clean their selves. Boy this cat's tongue is big...
