Mike the Tiger - LSU's Live Bengal Mascot.

Plenty of challenges in shooting this big guy today. First, it was very overcast and not much light. Then, he would not stop pacing. I think it's because LSU got placed in UNC's bracket and would have to play them in the 2nd round...so the pacing is understandable. And finally, I was shooting thru 2 layers of heavy-duty fencing, which is probably a good trade-off!

Asian tigers at Disney Animal Kingdom. They only have female tiges there, I was quite surprised to find out from one of the staff there that they are not part of any breeding programme. Magificent looking cats Tigers are a personal favourite of mine

A Siberian Tiger and one of her cubs rest at their enclosure at the Siberian Tiger Forest Park in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang province April 23, 2007. More than 100 tiger cubs are expected to be born in this park this year, local media reported.

Amur Tigress having an early morning stretch

One of two Bengal Tigers at the Nashville Zoo, they were both up and moving around today a joy to everyone who saw them. This and more pictures are viewable on my blog digiartpics.com/2011/05/17/nashville-zoo-at-grassmere/

I'm fairly amazed the tiger is actually visible in this video, since he was down in the pit between his area and us, and I couldn't see him. However, at the end of the video you can hear him roaring.

(Panthera tigris) The tiger is the largest cat species Today, they range from the Siberian taiga to open grasslands and tropical mangrove swamps. The remaining six tiger subspecies have been classified as endangered by IUCN.

He's my mostest-favouritest of beasties.

All these images were taken at Marwell zoo last year. This is just a few of my images from there and i hope to post some more a bit later. It's a great place to visit but be prepared as it's all in the open and spread out.

shot in La Barben Zoo, south of France, close to Marseille

Taken at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation on 11 Sept 09.

Such a beautiful creature yet so dangerous. I'd give it a great big hug if I was not considered tiger food.

This week the Philadelphia Zoo placed on exhibit three Amur Tiger cubs which were born at the zoo this past May. Their names are Changbai, Koosaka and Terney. There are two males and one female. They can tell who is who by the markings above their right eye.

These shots were taken on a cloudy day behind glass and they were pretty far away. My plan is to try and get some closer sharper shots on future visits.

I must say, I really got annoyed at first that this tiger did always blink just when I pressed the shutter. But regarding the fact that the Tiger blinking is now my most favorited photograph, I'm happy to give you another shot ;)

Defensive Position: ACTIVATE!

Cats will be cats...regardless of size and ferocious levels, all cats love to clean their selves. Boy this cat's tongue is big...
