Tiger in the Houston Zoo. This guy loves to swim. Its a shame that the zoo had to redesign their tiger exhibit after San Francisco.

Norwegian Esso, with origins in the US Standard Oil Company, have operated in Norway since 1893 and is thus the oldest of the oil companies in the country. Originally the company was founded in the early 1890s - by A/S Vestlandske Petroleum company based in Bergen and A/S Østlandske Petroleum company based in Christiania.

The two companies began to promote their gasoline with their own individual trademarks. Østlandske chose "Elephant", while Vestlandske used the "Tiger".

And it was the tiger mascot which came out on top, not only in Norway, but eventually also abroad. Who does not remember Esso's slogan, "Put a tiger in the tank" from the 1960s.

In 1999 Esso and Mobil merged to become Esso Norway AS. In 2005 there were approximately 330 Esso stations in this country.

This zoo trip was on a very cold and windy day, so we only did two pavilions. The Indo-Malayan Pavilion and the African Rainforest. It worked out great as we did both with my friend using my telescopic with a fancy extender he has and me using the macro, then we switched and backtracked.

I was quite pleased to see the Sumatran Tiger was still as energetic as he was when we left him.

I think the Tiger was yawning - but I wouldn't really want to be too near this tired beast!

A strange coincidence with this tiger. Those of you that read my posts and profile will know I work for thr RSPB in the summer months in Scotland, well this tiger was born in 2009 in the Highland wildlife park, about a 20 min drive from where I stay when I'm working, pic. in comments with his 2 sisters. He was then brought to the Yorkshire wildlife park to partner a lone female, about a 20 min drive from where I live the rest of the time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He seems to get on really well with his partner so fingers crossed for the patter of tiny paws soon.

Love the look of this tiger

This Tasmanian tiger snake was a little unhappy about us stumbling apon it and flattened out it's neck in defence and tasted the air with it's tongue. These snakes have very poor eyesight, they find their prey by smell.
