This is 'Ebb Tide', a purple floribunda rose, discovered in the garden of a heritage Federation house along Fuller Avenue in Hornsby, northern Sydney.
'Ebb Tide' is a floribunda rose bred by Tom Carruth, in the USA, in 2004 and released by 'Weeks Roses'. The rose has exotic mauve blooms and a strong fragrance. The dark purple buds open to deep purple, double, old-fashioned rosette blooms.

This was the view we were greeted to when we opened the campervan door.
On Christmas day, the city was almost deserted.. There were no buses, no trains, the underground was closed. But it was easy to find a parking lot!

Sea water was in the news this week as an unusually high tide covered parts of US 80 between Tybee Island and Savannah. I took this shot of a normal high tide earlier in the year at Fort McAllister State Park.
While shooting pelicans diving on fish in the shallows, I spotted this guy looking for his own.
Moss Landing, just north of Monterey, California.
Low tide at the old railroad bridge crossing the bay south of the Dumbarton Bridge in Newark, California. I have heard rumors that there is talk of reopening the bridge as part of a commuter addition between the East Bay and Penninsula.
One thing that i definitely love about baltimore is the inner harbor, even in the worst of weather, it always looks spectacular.

The fascinating thing about the North Sea in Schleswig-Holstein is the Wadden Sea with its tides.
I came across a number of bones in the mud which looked human whilst taking this photo, but I suspect that they maybe from the resturant below Canon Street Railway Bridge.
Ruakaka beach is a great swimming beach and at low tide you can see why. The flat sand bed is quite wide and when the tide is higher it doesn't have the rips that many other beaches have.

A long-ish exposure (given the bright conditions) trying to capture that moment when the sea recedes at the same time a wave approaches. All that is needed is the sucking and crescendo sound to go with it!
We have been in South Wales for the last week, so expect a deluge of images from Cardigan Bay :)
