Hurricane on the way to St Augustine as I post this. So, I am hoping in the tides, too.

King Tides, the term is non-scientific and refers to when the moon, sun and Earth align at their closest points and the gravitational pull on the Earth is the greatest. This happens for three day periods during the months of November, December, and January. We finally had a break in the weather and went in January to shoot these big waves at high tide. This is at Shore Acres down by Coos Bay.
So this is the south side of the Dutch Island Terschelling. A co-incidence that it was low tide where neat small islands popped up. The atmosphere with no wind and high temperatures made it a great summer feel. The next day I biked up here with my family, all was covered with seawater. Thanks all for your comments and favs
Everyone had left apart from a couple of die hards over at Gwynver beach a little further along. I retrieved my wet gear (yes my camera bags had to be dried out as well as my shoes ) but I glanced longingly back and this little bit of weathered fencing caught my eye -well not my eyeball if you know what I mean lol.. so a last pic before we reached the car park. Well when I say the last there are about another ten in the middle but I would hate to bore anyone and have many more I hope to share with you.... happy Sunday everyone and I'm still catching up btw, but definitely not winning yet sorry :(
Note to self. Don't visit if the tide is 10m or higher. Both the roads out were flooded and had to wait over an hour to get off. And the coffee is awful in the cafe.

A rising tide, crashing waves against a rocky coast line, and a setting sun provided all of the elements one could hope for.
There is something appealing about the vastness of the beaches on the North Norfolk coast when the tide is out….the sea is so far away you can barely see it, but you can hear it and see evidence of it being right under your feet only a few hours previously. There is so much beach, you can almost have it all to yourself and the sense of space is immense…..but when the tide comes in, it comes in fast- in fact many parts of Norfolk have faced devastating coastal erosion which you’d never think from looking at this gentle scene.
