A thick swath of wood chips can help keep ticks out of your yard - they don't like crawling over the barrier. This has the added benefit of giving you an organic border that also keeps weeds down.
I hate Saturdays.
The only day I don't have to weak up early is becaming the worst day of the week. The day of procrastination and the feeling of my life pouring slowly while I'm doing nothing useful. I should be studying, programming or at least reading, but Flickr is damn good for procrastination.
All I know
time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away

Made this (super short) video to make my best friend, Kim, laugh & because I love Demetri Martin’s new show. The bit I’m referencing is in the second episode & can be seen on the website - www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=218948&a....

I'm not confident of my tick ID's yet, but I think this one might be the dreaded Deer Tick. It was quite small -- the background it's on is newsprint.
This little horror was in my hall (just beside the front door)
Be careful out there folks.
The blacklegged tick is found in the Northeastern and upper Midwestern states. These ticks can be found during any season as long as temperatures are above freezing. They are able to transmit several diseases to humans but are easily identifiable. The most common forms to bite humans are nymphs and adult females. Adult males do not feed on blood but will attach. These ticks are able to transmit Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, babesiosis, and Powassan disease. These ticks are identifiable from their black legs and adult females are easily distinguishable with their red-orange body and black scutum. These ticks are found in deciduous forests.

She's holding my alarm clock, which does not go tick tock, but that doesn't seem to bother her. Also, I think at the end of this she's identifying the camera as a tick-tock as well.
When he found out I didn't have food, he became rather ticked off. I decided sitting indian style was not a good idea! This is a very close shot

Tick Tock Diner is a typical New York Diner straight out of the movies, with great food at reasonable prices.

I went out on a salticid collection day with Robert, Marty and Ron. When we got back to Roberts house and were sorting the spiders Marty noticed a tick on him, and then I said I felt something on my head and bingo a quick check by everyone confirmed I had this nice sized tick in my head. So a treatment of pyrethrin in the form of lyclear was needed to kill it, the Qld giv website and Robert said it would fall out by itself but it was kind of annoying me so I pulled it out. It hurt coming out and when I took some high mag shots of it I can see why, look at its hypostome! Those little barbs make pulling it out painful! I don't really want to get one of these again, although I have to face the reality that I probably will with the rummaging through undergrowth looking for salticids.
ideas for the Johnny C animation - The bugs are like giant ticks that slup all the blood into their bellies.
