3 months to the day after my thyroid was removed... and for what it's worth, these post-surgery numbers will finally disappear from my meter's 3-month average. :)
At the 3 month mark I should probably get over my bitterness towards some of the people I encountered that day, right? Like when I wasn't allowed to reconnect to my pump for 5 hours and then, even when I was reconnected, my numbers got stuck near 300, and one of the nurses said, "Wow, if you're going to let your numbers be like that, why even bother with the pump?" I should just let that go and carry on, right?

Daisy was born on June 7, 1997 and passed away on March 1, 2007.
On January 14, 2006 Daisy joined our family as a forever foster from Metro Maltese Rescue. Daisy came to us struggling from blindness due to advanced diabetes, thyroid issues and heart issues as well as Cushing’s disease. Despite these ailments, Daisy was loving and full of life. As soon as she learned the layout of her new home there was no holding her back! In fact, during daytime hours Daisy niched out a corner of the bedroom behind a reclining chair. We added pillows and blankets and the entire area became known in the household as Daisy’s studio. In the months Daisy spent with us she became extremely close with her step siblings: Jasper, a miniature poodle adopted from Metro Malts on July 9, 2004; Cookie, a Maltese foster from Metro Malts on May 20, 2006; and Lexi, a Maltese/Bichon we adopted from a friend. Daisy was a warm and endearing addition to our family. In the time Daisy spent with us she touched our hearts more than words can express. Due to Daisy’s ill health, she spent a lot of time at the vet’s office becoming very fond of her caregivers at West Chelsea Veterinarian Clinic, especially Dr. Marcus Schumaker.
Then, five weeks ago, Daisy lost one of her siblings -- Cookie -- to cancer. Daisy had a special affinity for Cookie, always snuggling up to one another on the bed and after Cookie passed, Daisy often searched the bed for her companion. Now we know they are once again snuggled up with one another giving each other comfort.
Daisy, we thank you for the wonderful memories and lessons of perseverance even in times of adversity! You will continue to bring smiles to our faces remembering meal times as you would hear your food dish hit the floor and then hear your tiny paws clicking down the hall as fast as you could make them move, often cutting the corner to short and hitting the wall to just get up and keep on running for your food bowl. We miss getting off the elevator to hear you barking behind the door as you hear us coming down the hall and seeing you wagging your tail, jumping on your hind legs and spinning in circles.
Daisy we know in our hearts you are in a wonderful place. We love you and miss you!
