A careworn Class 52 1011 Western Thunderer stand's outside the carrage shed at Old Oak it look like it could do with a repaint and a bit of work on that bodyside scrape if you look at my Western pictures many of them have knock's dent's and scrapes on there bodyside's it seem's as if the Western's were prone to bump's and knock's. It was a good afternoon visit here for Hydraulic's 1011/16/25/37/43/53/62/63. 7001/11/26/29/31/32 were all here. Sunday 23/06/1974.

Fine weather today...until I got home.
THEN the thunder began and the rain came hammering down.
Luckily it only took an hour before it cleared and the sun was back.
:o)
An impenetrable sponge from a loofah-esk sea bath? A squid's counterweight? A succulent leaf? A swordfish style thrasher? The manicured nail of a precious dinosaur?
Close to a meter long.
Jurassic to Upper Cretaceous. Biscay. Spain.
Possibly a Belemnoidea 'weight' i.e the fossilized equivalent of a white cuttlefish bone, but for an extinct squid-like sea creature (no tentacles but lots of arms). When large like this, they were referred to as 'thunder bolts' - mythical and 'explanatory' stones from past lightnings. That these were found on the Biscay may only have added to the legend of this natural zone of liminality between east-west and north-south.

Talladega National Forest: This shot was taken on the 540 Road in the TNF and just as I was preparing the shot, an evening thunder shower was passing and the thunder was rolling. If you look closely you can see a few sprinkles in the creek. Ooh ! .... by the way , there are remnents of old stills in these parts.
Some wild Norwegian scenery once more... This old bridge looks like such a peaceful place to be, but the waterfall carrying (cascading?) glacier water from Jostedalsbreen brings the sound of thunder.
This Thunderhead was to the South of us and hit the suburbs of Chicago with some pretty nasty stuff including very heave rain, wind and some small "pea sized" hail

If its where I think it is, the quarry in the background is now marked on the map as disused - can anyone confirm please ?

There's nothing that quite annoys me more than when someone copies my Photography. Inevitably, ideas are going to be similar and I'm overwhelmed if somebody likes my work that much that they've been inspired to reconstruct their own piece but when it gets to the point when they copy photos, edits and my sketch book it kind of takes the piss.
Apart from this, life is pretty dandy.
50008 Thunderer passes Lea Marston working 0Z84 Kidderminster SVR to Butterley MRC with 50015 Valiant in tow.
This a spray paint mural of Steven Adams by Mr G a New Zealand artist. Steven Adams is the center for the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team and he is from New Zealand.
While in the USA Mr G also did murals of Muhammad Ali and Prince.
This is mural is located in downtown Oklahoma City.
And lightning
We seeked cover when it was time, but it was amazing to watch the huge cloud coming towards the coastline where we sat and enjoyed the show.
Sedona's Thunder and Wilson Mountains bask under a post sunset sky. A healthy grouping of yucca provide the interesting foreground here.

We had spotty thunder storms all day today. Went out in the evening to an old favorite and caught the setting sun illuminating this big storm to the south.
I thought I would change gears today to a landscape image. Since this is Thursday and it is suppose to be Throw Back Thursday which I don't do I thought I would do Thunder Mountain Thursday.
This is a simple LR 5 edit with nothing more than moving all of the sliders around.
