This week we are going back twelve years to two Olympians on Kildare Street. Dublin Bus RV 539 is seen on route 15 to Scholarstown Road, while RH 86 is on the Dublin Bus Hop-on, Hop-off open-top tour.
Route 15 started running between the city centre and Scholarstown Road in 1988. In December 2011 it became a cross-city route, running from Clongriffin to Stocking Avenue, though a year later the southern terminus was moved to Ballycullen Road. In January 2015, route 15 (along with other routes) was diverted away from Kildare Street and sent along South Great George's Street instead due to Luas Cross-City works.
Like the 15, the Dublin Bus tour started in 1988, and today falls under the DoDublin brand.
RV 539 was new to Dublin Bus in 1999 and was withdrawn in 2012. It was sold on to an operator in the UK. The RV was a Volvo Olympian, while RH 86 was a Leyland Olympian. It was an older bus, dating back to 1991. In 2000 it became part of the Dublin Bus driving school, and in 2003 it became a tour bus. It was withdrawn in 2014.
Kildare Street 16/08/2011
This week we are going back thirty years to 1995 and to P 39 on O'Connell Street with a service on route 10 to UCD Belfield.
Buses started operating on route 10 between the Phoenix Park and Donnybrook in 1940. In 1970 the route reached the Belfield campus of University College Dublin (UCD). Network Direct saw the end of the route in 2010. It was replaced on the southside by route 39A, and on the northside by route 46A.
P 39 was new to Dublin Bus in 1993. It was one of the early CitySwift buses, with the first batch arriving in 1992. It was withdrawn in 2003, and joined the Bus Eireann school fleet in Limerick. It was withdrawn around 2014.
Although P 39 was a CitySwift bus, route 10 was not a CitySwift route.

Summer === I don't understand why you're disregarding your signature color.
Barbie === Hello Summer, it's our anniversary. I want it to be extra special.
Summer === I don't know Barbie. Pink always saves the day for you.
Teresa === I agree. I think you should go with pink. Add a dash of sparkle to that.
Barbie === Thanks girls. If you both insist then I'll go with pink.
Summer === So where is he taking you?
Teresa === Oh my gosh! Is he taking you to the Cheesecake Factory?
Barbie === Hehe no. He's taking me to this new place in town called "The Bistro."
Teresa === Oooooh fancy.
Summer === Well let's not wait any longer. Your perfect pink outfit awaits!!!
