i crocheted these shawls out of quilting thread a couple of years ago and then never got around to blocking them or listing them till a customer asked about them recently, so i pulled them out to take pictures. i'd forgotten just how many i made! :lol: i'll be blocking them all this weekend and then listing them on etsy soon. if you are interested in any before that my email addy is in my profile.
Re-visiting a design done previously (one in red, far right), the visual illusion relies on one of the two stitch threads being the same colour as the background.
11 rows stitched in two colours, #5 perle cotton, on 24.5cm circumference balls, in preparation for my upcoming exhibition at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Camperdown..

A machine to spin silk thread, in the Shirakawa-go house at the open-air museum of old Japanese farmhouses, Osaka. Sorry about the blurriness of this picture but I hope you can see this interesting machine.

Reproduction thread bobbins from the Mary Rose. The pigments would have been red lead and malachite in this case.

Blackpool tram 001 at Fishermans Walk / Ash Street, Fleetwood. Friday 18 November 2011.
The Bombardier Flexity 2 tram was ungoing clearance tests for the new platforms between Little Bispham and Fishermans Walk / Ash Street. People onboard the tram included members of Her Majesty's Railway Inspectorate (HMRI), along with staff from Bombardier, Blackpool Council and Lancashire County Council. High spped (70 kph) and braking tests were also carried out between Starr Gate and the Pleasure Beach. This was only the second time that the tram had ventured north of Little Bispham, the first time occasion two days earlier Wednesday afternoon 16 November.

A Common Thread: Textiles from the Permanent Collection
In honor of the East-West Center Gallery’s 20th anniversary and the East-West Center’s 55th anniversary, this exhibition will feature a selection of textiles rarely seen by the general public, including new works recently donated and never before exhibited. The works will include: batik from Indonesia and Malaysia, embroidered clothes from China, kilim carpet weaving from Iran, Indian zardozi, Cambodian ikat, naturally-dyed Lao silk weaving, Samoan siapo, Bangladeshi kantha, Korean chokakpo, Japanese silk kimono and obi, Uzbeki suzani, Burmese shwe gyi do, Syrian silk, Filipino Bontoc weaving, and more.
