Who knew that five years later I'd come stumbling through the foreground of this picture? right from underneath Banner Peak and walk alongside the opposite shore on the Sierra High Route.
a thousand years ...

~ This is located at the junction of 2 valleys that connects the valley of Yizrael going west and the Jordan Rift valley going north to south.
The city is surrounded with a high ridge of mountains from all directions.
Overlooking the city in the east are the Heights of Gilad and southwest are the Gilboa Mountains.
In the north-west are the hills of the Lower Galilee.
The city is on a highway that connects Syria and the Heights of Gilad to the coast of Israel. The Tel (hill) of the ancient Bet She'an impressively blocks the entrance to the valley and controls the highway.
Water from Mount Gilboa and the Jordan River to the city, made this city has grown into an important commerce city, settled for over 4,000 years through today.
The biblical story that involves this city is from the time of King Shaul (Samuel 1:11, 41), a few decades before the first temmple is to be built.
The battle between Shaul and Phiistines just ended on Mount Gilboa. israel has been defeated. Smoke is coming from the burnt villages and cities, which have been conquered by the Philistines.

We were sitting in the dark watching a movie about a girl. A girl who had just seen a movie. Now waiting for the mysterious Mister X. The tension was unbearable. Of course, we realized it was just a movie. We reached for the popcorn. We knew she had a gun. But was it loaded?

The image title is borrowed from a 1957 British crime film directed by Lance Comfort and starring Griffith Jones, Lisa Gastoni and Vincent Ball.

The cinema in the background is the much-loved Scala Cinema, located in Bangkok’s Siam Square - perhaps the most beautiful movie theater in Southeast Asia, with a stunning art déco interior, holding a thousand seats with red velvet upholstery and the last stand-alone cinema in Bangkok.
Scala was named after Milan’s opera house and opened on 31 December 1969 and closed on 5th July 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, showing, as its last film, Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso.

Here's another from my "forest fire portrait" series. I used the incredible Zeiss Otus 100mm F1.4 (a true portrait beast!) for this image, and it melted away the background into something special. I lit the scene with 2 Godox V1S flash units (one for fill, another as a hair light). The flare effect is an overlay I added in post for stylistic purposes. I love the natural happiness in this shot from my model (my daughter) that adds its own joy to the shot.

Natural History Museum
The South Kensington Museum of Natural History, in London, is one of the three major museums located on Exhibition Road, in Kensington (the other two are the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum). However, the main entrance is on Cromwell Road. The museum has a varied collection with more than 70 million specimens and objects in collection, belonging to various fields of natural history. The five most important collections are those corresponding to the areas of: botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology and zoology.
