We are the ones that will open your mind
Leave the weak and the haunted behind
People can no longer cover their eyes
If this disturbs you, then walk away
You will remember the night you were struck by the sight of

Thousands of fans lined the streets of Burnley (May 6th, 2025) as the town’s football club celebrated its return to the Premier League with a parade.
Fans lined the streets and red and blue plumes of smoke could be seen as crowds gathering outside Burnley Town Hall and along the open-top bus parade route.
The open-top bus parade then made its way through the town centre to Turf Moor to the delight of thousands of fans.
The parade today was after the Clarets clinched promotion with a 2-1 win over Sheffield United in April.
Burnley became the first side in English football history to finish with 100 points but not be crowned champions, yet they also conceded only 16 goals in 46 league games – bettering the record set by Liverpool, who conceded 16 across 42 matches in 1978-79.
Success this season means manager Scott has achieved three Championship promotions with three different teams, having previously guided Fulham and Bournemouth out of the second tier.
It also means Burnley will once again compete in the top flight having last been there in 2023/24 under Vincent Kompany.

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of abandoned homes strewn throughout the countryside in Alberta. They did not fall out of the sky, but rather, were thoughtfully placed with the intentions of building a life within the four walls and a roof - a very long time ago.
When I come across these homesteads, I just have to stop. I don’t know why I am drawn to these old relics. Fossils of the past. It is as if can hear their heart beat in the solitude of the countryside.
Who lived here? What kind of life did they have? Did they conquer their hardships or challenges? It is without a doubt that the occupants encountered insurmountable struggles.
I try to imagine the essence of the house. Were there moments of joy and contentment despite the harshness and difficulties of the environment? I find it incredulous that it still stands even though it has been ravaged by time.
My imagination begins to percolate.
I want to hear the happy, contagious squeals of children giggling as they raced to the warmth of their beds at night; the sound of Mother humming as she lovingly brushed her daughter’s hair by the fire, or Father whistling with an air of fulfillment at a satisfying day of work that had been done and in anticipation of the hot meal waiting for him as he walked in, through the door. Goals, dreams and aspirations were quietly shared in the secrecy of night. Stolen kisses and affirmations of love and commitment were whispered as the children slept.
I wonder if this house had been enough for them? Why did they leave? What were their parting thoughts as they turned the key for that one last time? So many questions. No answers…
I snap a photo of the old gal.
I start driving down the lonely road but take one last look in my rearview mirror. I see a house surrounded by mass plantings of flowers, a thriving garden, chickens milling about and a clothesline that has a congregation of well worn clothes that are being gently seduced by an unusually warm summer breeze. The children are playing Kick-the-can out in the fields.
The joy of their laughter is a welcome sound to their Mother and Father who are sitting together on the porch sipping lemonade and enjoying a respite from the monotony of chores. No words pass between them. They bask in the silence of their mutual contentment.
I see a house that was once brimming with life and love. It stands proud and tenacious as a testament to those who happen to pass by on this lonely country road and those who have the ears to hear the echoes of laughter wafting in the wind, proclaiming that this house was more than four walls and a roof - it was a home…

One Thousand Museum is a high-rise residential condominium in Miami,Florida,
United States. The building, which is located at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard, across from Museum
Park, was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The initial design was started by Zaha Hadid. Completed in 2019, the 62-story building stands at a height of 707 feet (215 m), making it one of the tallest buildings in Miami.
In early 2018, before the building was finished, an episode of PBS' Impossible Builds featured the building, which they referred to as the "Scorpion Tower", and described it as "one of the most complex skyscrapers ever to make it off the drawing board.
Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, One Thousand Museum was Zaha Hadid's first residential tower in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the final projects designed by Hadid in her lifetime." It was designed in association with O'Donnell Dannwolf Partners Architects, a local architecture firm.
A notable feature of the building is the curving exoskeleton, allowing the interior space to have fewer columns. The exoskeleton is composed of 5,000 pieces of glass fiber reinforced concrete. These pieces were shipped from Dubai early in the construction process. The exoskeleton is located in front of a glass facade.
The building was topped out in February 2018. It contains 84 residences, consisting of a two-story duplex penthouse, 4 townhouses, 10 full-floor residences, and 70 half-floor units.
A swimming pool is installed at the top of the building, covered by a curving, faceted metal ceiling that reflects the water. The double-height space is occupied by the pool on one side and a seating area on the other. A similar metallic canopy design is used for the bar. A full two-room treatment spa, hair and beauty salon, acai and juice bar, and sunbathing area are also installed, alongside a multimedia tower.

The Power House and Clock Tower. “Located on the eastern end of Heart Island, it was designed in the fashion of a Medieval Tower. To date it was one of the Thousand Islands Bridge Authorities largest reconstruction projects after a fire in 1939 severely damaged the building. Today it stands as George Boldt had originally intended, rising out of the St. Lawrence River from an underwater shoal. Connected to Heart Island by its one of a kind, picturesque, arched stone bridge. While its design is beautiful, it was designed as much for function as fashion. It housed two generators that would supply electricity to the entire island. Unfortunately much of the original equipment has been lost, only a few pieces remain on display.”

I spent two nights here, and on the second evening, after thunderstorms for much of the day, the clouds perfectly aligned to produce beautiful colors over Mt. Banner.

Believe it or not, the image out of camera is rather boring on this one. The "bones" are good, due to a wide focal length (14mm), a long exposure (30 seconds) due to using an ND1000 filter, and the interesting shapes in the foreground. But the sky was flat, as were the colors. I pumped up the image using Luminar AI's sky replacement and reflection tool, which allowed me to upgrade the sky and give the image the spark it deserved. How I did it is part of my demonstration at the link below.

California's Mossbrae Falls is almost like the shorter cousin of Burney Falls, though it is no less beautiful. Thin drips of water just seems to ooze out of the moss and vegetation covered rock wall and into the creek that parallels the waterfall. The composition here isn't very obvious at first glance, as the waterfall is quite broad. One approach is to take detail shots of the beautiful drips of water. Here I decided to do a vertical composition to include the creek rushing down to meet the falls.

One of my rose bushes has been persistent in blooming despite the early winter. It's really quite beautiful, and reminds me of Beauty and the Beast. Planet Earth is 4.5 billion years old. Mankind is about 140 thousand years old. If we compress the Earth's existence into a normal full day of 24 hours, then we’ve been on this planet for... 2.5 seconds.
In 2.5 seconds we’ve become the dominant species with a rapidly growing population, causing a catastrophic impact on the environment. We have created the industrial revolution and burned fossil fuels creating more carbon in the atmosphere than ever before. We have caused global warming at a record pace, endangering our own existence. We have cut trees and destroyed forests more than ever before, polluted air, water, and soil. We have created an island of waste, the size of the state of Texas, in the middle of the ocean. We have caused the 4th mass animal extinction. Three-quarters of Earth’s land surface is under pressure from human activity. In just 2.5 seconds we’ve turned the planet into our own personal factory.
It took almost 4.5 billion years of evolution for us to exist and we have changed so much in so little time.
The problem is us. And it is up to us if we want to make it to the 4th second.

With my project “2.5 seconds” I hope to bring awareness about climate change, to start a conversation about the issue and to educate more people about the facts, the urgency of the crisis and the seriousness of its consequences. The project is a series of photographs that highlight the environmental crisis through metaphors and symbolism. Each one of them illustrates and represents a specific environmental issue using allegorical figures and subjects, props, costumes and natural landscapes.
I used “2.5 seconds” as a title because I wanted to invoke the power of numbers and perspective to create a strong, straightforward and shocking effect.
It all started with an idea I had almost 3 years ago. I have always loved nature, and have been both amazed and captivated by our planet’s beauty. I've traveled to many places before, but none of them could compare to what I felt and saw in Iceland. Visiting Iceland for the first time had a great impact on me and made me realize that our planet is fragile and its beauty may disappear. The thought that nature is being affected and destroyed by the changing climate became personal, shocking and upsetting. I wanted to capture and preserve Iceland's incredible beauty through my art while I still can.
The pressure from human activity is having a catastrophic impact on the environment that endangers our own existence. But I feel like ecology problems that are threatening our environment and affecting everyone on the planet do not get enough media attention.
I am using photography as my unique voice to express how I feel and share my fear for the future. I want to bring more meaning to my work and create a strong message for all the people out there. I hope my art will be louder and clearer than words.
The time to act is now.
I know there are a great many historical churches in England but this one is very extraordinary and almost unique. The village of Lastingham is in the North York Moors National Park and its village church St Marys is itself very old. However it’s when you enter the church and go down the steep stone steps in the centre of the nave that you really begin to travel in time.
There are records that suggest a monastery was founded on this site in about AD650 . Around AD 725 the first stone church was built, and Cedd an important missionary from Lindisfarne human remains were reburied beside the altar. Stephen of Whitby refounded the Saxon monastery as a Benedictine house in 1078. Stephen built this present crypt over the place where Cedd was believed to have been buried. The crypt has been relatively unchanged for well over a thousand years.
I have not visited the Crypt for many years and it was a great pleasure to descend again into this remarkable space, which has a strange quality of calm.
I would agree with Simon Jenkins, author of England's Thousand Best Churches, when he calls the Norman crypt of St Mary's church in Lastingham 'one of England's special places'. He’s certainly right.
Technically the image is far from perfect I was balancing deep shadows a bright window and some strong LCD lights but I think you will get a sense of the place. In terms of size I would guess its about 100 meters long and 40 meters wide
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.
