I Would Rather Live with A Thousand Scars

Then Leave You And never see you Again

Because Living Like that I would Rather Be Dead

I would never be happy again

You are All that Can Bring a Smile to my Lips

I Tried for an eternity

To Stay Strong

Not until You

Could I make It Through the day

First Impressions Tell Me All Need To Know

heart Tells Me you are the soul I Need

To Get me Through my Life and Heal my Scars

Nothing Takes the Place of My Love for You

I Tried for an eternity

To Stay Strong

Not until You

Could I make It Through

Kavalcare Solar System for Jhpiego Mid-Wife Clinic Dec8, 2014

Every year, 12,000 women in Pakistan die of birth complications. The Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Services Component, implemented by MCHIP/Jhpiego, aims at preventing maternal, newborn, and child deaths by ensuring skilled birth attendance (SBA) through a total market approach, empowered community, timely referral of obstetric and neonatal complications to an emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC) facility, and improved access to child care.

Lack of electricity in remote areas is a major issue that often leads to obstetric complications and newborn deaths. Refrigerated storage is vital for the effectiveness of life saving drugs and vaccines. Ice boxes are used in remot areas of this purpose but it is an ineffective method especially when easy availability of ice is a problem. To overcome these issues, Lodhie Foundation in association with Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program/JHPIEGO, extended its Kavalcare program and provided a Solar Powered System to a remote clinic located at village Haji Usman Jhakro near Makli, District Thatta. System provides sufficient power to operate a small refrigerator, a fan and 3 lamps 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It was designed, manufactured and installed by Shaan Technologies private Limited Karachi. After installation of Solar System in August 2014, this small remote clinic is serving a community of 10,000 plus persons who lives in village Haji Usman and surrounding areas. On an average 10 patients visits this clinic each day. Clinic also provides up to 15 birth attendance and new born care in a month.

The Lincoln Tunnel Challenge 5K is one of the most unique races in the country. This USATF certified 5K (3.1 miles) takes place mostly underwater and spans two states. The toll booths in Weehawken, NJ mark both the start and finish of the race. There is a cone turnaround once participants reach the NYC side of the tunnel. All proceeds benefit Special Olympics New Jersey and the thousands of athletes and Unified Partners.

Approximately 2,000 people attended College of DuPage’s inaugural STEM-CON event, an interactive conference celebrating the fields celebrating science, technology, engineering and math. The all-day event featured more than booths offering interactive activities designed to inform, entertain and stimulate an interest in STEM, including extracting DNA from a strawberry, a weather balloon launch, river system development, nanotechnology, the physics of flight and robotics.

Outpouring of love and faith draws thousands to ‘Honor Your Mother’ in downtown Phoenix

Story by Joyce Coronel with photos by Bill Hardiman, The Catholic Sun

Thousands of people were drawn to the streets of downtown Phoenix Dec. 6 in our outpouring of love for Our Lady of Guadalupe at the annual Honor Your Mother event.

Phoenix police shut down traffic to allow for the parade of colorfully arrayed participants in a procession that stretched from Immaculate Heart of Mary Church all the way to the area just outside St. Mary’s Basilica and the Diocesan Pastoral Center.

Dozens of dance groups, many bearing images of Our Lady of Guadalupe on sequined costumes and feathered head dresses, twirled in unison down the street, beating drums and shaking maracas. Many held statues of the Blessed Mother adorned with roses and banners that proclaimed the name of their parish or prayer group.

Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted and Auxiliary Bishop Eduardo A. Nevares stood on the stage in front of the Phoenix Convention Center for more than an hour as the parade made its way past. Both bishops commented on the presence of the many infants and small children at the event.

“You can see the faith is being transmitted from parents to children,” Bishop Nevares said. “It’s wonderful to see that the faith isn’t just for older people. Thank you, parents and grandparents, for passing on the faith.”

A bilingual, outdoor Mass, concelebrated by both bishops and several priests from around the diocese, followed the procession, with Bishop Nevares giving the homily.

“To have this opportunity to express our faith is a miracle,” Bishop Nevares said. “Many people all over the world are being persecuted and killed for the faith. What a joy it is to express our faith without fear.”

Bishop Nevares said the strong turnout was encouraging. While many proclaim that secularism and materialism have triumphed and that faith is pasé, he said, “they’re not here to witness our love for God and the Virgin Mother.”

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite venues. The stage is kind of a half circle, so it gives you a really nice view pretty much no matter where you are. I don't understand why more places don't go with that design, instead of the horrible "straight" stage that makes you strain your neck at a weird angle if you don't happen to be in the perfect spot.

These springs are outlets from the Snake River Plains Aquifer, which flows through thousands of square miles of porous volcanic rock and is one of the largest groundwater systems in the world. The aquifer is believed to be fed by the Lost River which disappears into lava flows near Arco, about 90 miles (140 km) northeast of Hagerman.
