Just wanted to see what I had so far and thought I would share :)

Kingsburg, Swedish Festival

Model: Yasmine Moghimi

MUA: Kayla Huotari-Harris

I like the placement of Yasmine's hands here. I think they frame her face nicely. I also wanted a tighter picture to highlight her make up. I like the expression here. It feels intimate and also a little vulnerable.

Quickest shoot I've ever done. Set-up right next door to the venue and shot before they played.

Vanity thought and thought, and thought again, and as she did begin to consider things other than beauty the bars of the cage began to melt and her features began to appear for the first time. When she reopened her eyes the woman in black was nowhere to be seen to thank. Vanity may have repented the error of her ways, but she hadn’t a clue which way to go. She found herself being drawn to the water... And as she grew closer, her features became clearer and stronger.

I have been thinking about the afterlife quite a lot lately, after having lost someone very close to me. That day, I just stared off into the world around me, and began to realize this intense silence, normally cluttered with noise of both thought and physical environment. It was in this oddly calming silence that I began to see even deeper into the beauty of my surroundings.

Perhaps when our loved ones pass away, they stay right here - in every cloud, every autumn leaf, and every breath of wind. It's them we see, glowing in every blood red summer sunset, flowing through the veins of our atmosphere, filling them with beauty. They sit within each snowflake, being carried safely from the winter sky, unique just as we all are. With every wave swept in from the sea, they're attempting to grab the hand of someone they loved. There they are, sharing with you their world - the immeasurable beauty, which they always wanted to share while alive, but could never express through words, nor photograph. Their imagination, their entire mind displayed brilliantly before your very eyes. They now have this incredible ability to show you the world as they had always seen it. Maybe this is why we become more aware and appreciative of our surroundings as we grow older, and more familiar with the ways of life. Maybe this is them wanting us to be happy, reminding us that this life is beautiful.

I really want everyone to remember this, and think about it every now and then in life.

Having been seriously diverted on my way home from the M6 I found myself passing the Bull Ring in Birmingham. I stopped at the lights and quickly wound the window down to grab this shot.

A couple of thoughts to go with this shot. One, the Summaron is a slow lens but it's still ok to shoot at night running film at 1600. It really doesn't change too much between f/3.5 to f/8, so it's no biggie shooting it wide open. Secondly, it's always worthwhile to have my camera at hand no matter where I go.

Not sure which highway this is, thought we were only seven minutes from landing at Killeen, so I'm assuming it's I-35. Based on the shape and other visual clues, I'm going to say it's I-35 in Jarrell, Texas -- about 20.23 miles SSE of Killeen.

"Although Cherry Blossoms can put up such a spectacular show, their existence is brief. This is the main reason why the Japanese people invests time and effort to vigilantly track down Cherry Blossoms so as not to miss a second of its passing time on earth. Cherry Blossoms therefore, are a reminder of our humanity - our mortality. Buddhism’s concept of “mono no aware" teaches the same thing. Like Cherry Blossoms’ cycle of exceptional beauty followed by a quick death, a human being’s life can be given and taken at any moment. During World War 2, Japanese pilots on suicide missions (Kamikazes) painted the figure of the Cherry Blossom on their planes, while some brought branches of these flowers to accompany them in death. Human life is not everlasting. Humanity’s evanescence, epitomized by Cherry Blossoms, reminds us that life is too short to squander away. We have to relish every breathing moment we have left and live life to the fullest."
