I thought it would be a nice idea to style a well known persona through different time periods and settings. My effort was to keep the essence and core of that persona while the style, the costume and certain details would change according to the conditions and fashion of that era. The essence of the persona and the style would have to interact and complement each other, in a successful blend.
I chose Aphrodite because like all Gods of ancient Greece, she has both virtues and vices, while at the same time, she is said to have been born on the shores of my country, the island of Cyprus.
One of these time periods is the 1940s, which shows Aphrodite as a woman living through WWII. It portrays deep sadness, beauty and youth lost in the great war through the choice of a dark blue costume decorated with a dark blue rose and black veil. On the other hand, Aphodite’s resolve and resilience, also exhibited by the women of the war who had to venture beyond their traditional limits, is shown by designing the upper part of the dress in a similar fashion to the insignia used by women air force pilots. I was inspired by Christian Dior's New Look of the late 1940s, especially his exquisite details.

Thoughts are lazilly swimming through and nothing bothers and worries me... One of those rare moments in life!
My friend Eric asked me to photograph him in infrared for the cover of his upcoming CD entitled "Lost in Thought." Subterranean is the name of his band. I am so pleased he liked the photo.
I thought that Buzztime had added an ingenious new button you could use to order another drink, but it's just the pad under the missing 1.
during my road trip across the USA in July of 1964 I spotted this Missouri cow I thought to take it’s picture I didn't scan the picture into the Internet until 2019 whereupon I color edited. It didn't turn out as well as I hoped, but it's an improvement over the old black and white
Decided to upload one more pic today.....I did have a frustrating day with my camera and my creativity, but I did still get some nice shots. I just have to do some post-processing on some of them.
I have had my mind on some intense things lately....and sometimes that intensity really comes out in the photo.
Holyhead, Wales ~ Conway Castle - A masterpiece of medieval architecture and one of the most picturesque of Welsh castles. Built by Edward I in the late 1200's. As you walk around the the castle's empty ruins, climb into is battlements and look down through it's floorless towers and roofless rooms, you can feel a sense of Conway's place in history. We visited this site while on a day excursion from our 'TASTE OF THE BRITISH ISLES' cruise on Crystal Cruises' Ship -The Symphony~
A nice plume heading up from the rostered steam locomotive - Bagnall 2682. My thought was to hop on board for a quick trip up and down the line.
A recent image taken at a close family friend's wedding where I was asked to take the 'official pictures'.
This someting I thought long and hard about.
All the advice says "don't do it" - but I did with some extreme intrepidation and strong persuasion from our friends. You either sink or swim.
Well I'm still bobbing on the surface.
This has to be one of my favourite images from the whole day.
Knew it once I'd taken it.

Thought I had better try a close up flower shot as this is not an area I have ever tried before. For me it was all about getting the details right and sharp. I liked the x2 petals sticking out the top doing a kind of peace sign.
Our experiences form the boundaries of our thoughts, reinforced by our perspectives. In due time, we even forget that we are born free and get entangled in our own thoughts.
