We'd heard there were macaws flying around Kirkby Stephen but thought it might be the locals having a laugh at our expense, then we saw them one morning from our hotel room. Tried waiting for them to move and give us a better view but they flew away instead. Oh well....

This little girl was on a tourist train leaving the station when I spotted her. I snapped about 10 quick shots and at one point she spotted me taking her picture. I like this one, it looks like she is dreaming of far-away places.

The previous Summer, during the heatwave. It was later in the afternoon, but even then she still found it too hot to play. I did a whole set of portraits of her, not often is she so serious, that's why I like it, She seemed in deep thought and unaware of me.

Have a good day and thanx for your comments, M, (*_*)

I thought this shot was so far away that it would be unusable and it's been cropped so much that it's not a great pic. But it was sure a sight to see. Taken from about 200 yards, but close as I could get. Le Flore County, OK.

Where my personal thoughts and chosen photographs are launched

"The Lord's divine intelligence within comes forth through me. I know what to do and I do it." ~ Unity

This is for megan, But tell me what occupies your thoughts

1.i thought the size and shape of the bodie of water and the clouds shapes were the most dominate in this photo

2. this is a lake that i hunt and fish and i thought that i should drive out to the lake after a rain and take this photo witht he big clouds moving in

3. natural light was used but it was a overcast day right after a rain shower. so i that would add more of the dymanic look the the photo and catch your eye and make you wanna follow it

4.the hardest part of this photo was the settings by far and trying different ones to see what one would make it look as it does and that was with a land scape setting

5.this is more of a land scape photo becuase 9 times out of 10 the photos can never have the same look as it does in this photo

Puerto Rico Day 02

On our second day in Puerto Rico we set off to find the huge radio telescope near Arecibo. We thought we could cut across the mountains and see more stuff. The roads are complicated out in the jungle but we were in no hurry. We drove around arguing about directions until we stumbled into Adjuntas. It was a little town with a nice plaza. We stopped for a few pictures and a pizza.

I think that we got lost in the mountains again before we gave up and drove to Arecibo. There was also a plaza. It was not as nice. The telescope is a straight shot from Arecibo though and that was what we really wanted. At about six o’clock Dad mentioned that he thought maybe he read that the telescope closed around four. We decided to press on. Maybe we would see enough of it from the parking lot to quell our interest. Could not have been farther from the truth. There was a gate and a guard and awesome space murals and cool towers we could see on top of the mountains. We had to come back on Sunday.

week 3 - 52 weeks

for all the "pretty" stuff i do, if you look through my favourites i love "dark" works, alot of my favourite photographers do dark ... i would love to learn how to do it properly and am still on a huge learning curve so bear with my terrible uploads til i get i right ...

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player

That struts and frets his hour upon the stage

And then is heard no more. It is a tale

Told be an idiot, full of sound and fury,

Signifying nothing

We saw this rope and I thought maybe I could swing over the river, however in my wisdom, decided against it - Rob took this picture and thought it a good opportunity to ask if this is the way my husband would want me to go!

Continuing with my thoughts on why nature photography is important to me, this photo is a tribute to my mother, My mom was passionate about being outdoors. She was the driving force behind the decisions to start camping and backpacking. She was a South Dakota farm girl who always wanted to live on a ranch in Wyoming, but ended up raising a family in Moline, Illinois. She loved our vacations to the West every summer.

I am trying to learn methods to restore some of my old photos. This was very faded -- a print from an instamatic camera. I tried to restore some of the color with Topaz Restyle.
