I made a little crown of thorns out of some branches from one of our bushes for stock photography. Then I played around a little and came up with this. I'll probably use it for comments on community-type spaces.

If you wonder why this is love, scroll down to read how I answered that question when asked by another Flickr member.

This year instead of buying new dolls for my collection, I wanted to focus more on my "Holy Grail" dolls. Throughout the year, if I see new dolls that I really want (like Tribal Beauty, here), I might get them, but I'm really aiming to get all of the ones that I've been looking for and/or wanted over the years and not been able to get or find for whatever reason.

Hard Rock Cafe and Society Girl are starting off this new series.

A special shout out goes to BarbieGurl4eVa, for letting me know that someone was selling Hard Rock Cafe' on ebay. Thank you, 'Gurl!!

This past Friday I flew into San Jose where Ara, Nathan, and Sarah greeted me. We drove to the hills, where we met up with the bride and groom who we were there to shoot. A short drive to Carmel and the fun began.

Ara and I went with the bride and groom to the ocean, where in the near 70 degree weather we frolicked in the surf, took their photos, with Pebble Beach Golf Course on the bluffs above. We attended the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and then we made our way to our hotel in Monterey.

The hotel...what an experience. The room reservation was botched, the rug in our room had a very distinctive iron-shaped burn on the floor, and Nathan and I are pretty sure that was a blood stain on the shower curtain. Aren't shower curtains like a dollar at the Dollar Tree? The room was at least three shades of pink, oddly though it had impeccable beautiful high-gloss, polished granite tiles on the bathroom floor. The owners clearly ran out of money after the tiling job. Evidence? The ice bucket was from a Days Inn. We were not at a Days Inn.

Ara and I went as a team to ask to borrow an iron (after all, there was proof one existed at the hotel at some point on our floor), and we also needed extra towels as we had four people in our room.

The hotel manager grunted as he gave us an iron and ironing board. But oh, when we asked for towels it was all over. "You already have TWO in your ROOM!" he snapped.

We stared at him.

He finally grunted again, unlocked a closet, and gave us two more washcloth-sized, thinning towels. Who knew there was a towel shortage in Monterey?

The wedding was a smash, at L'Auberge Carmel. The funny notes here are that the bride wore a dress a bride I shot two years ago in NH wore, and the wedding in Sedona I shot a few years ago was held at L'Augberge Sedona. Small world in those classy joints! The Villa was beautiful, the bride was stunning, the ceremony short and sweet. Photos from that will follow at some point, but I was the second shooter (it was Ara's gig) so I will let her post her shots first. : )

Sunday we made our way to Santa Cruz, where sadly the roller coasters weren't open yet, but we continued north to a different Pebble Beach where our feet were exfoliated, we collected pretty things, and found a roly poly fish head on the beach. By afternoon, we were enjoying smoothies in San Francisco. Nathan and I shared a drink in a bar where we found a giant white rabbit and a woman with a mustache and a fez at the bar! And we thought Portland was weird.

Sunday night brought us excellent Greek food, a visit to a sex shop where we ogled antique sex toys, and ice cream at one of my favorite ice cream shops in the world, Bi Rite Creamery. Salted caramel ice cream, you say? Check!

A night on a hillside in Oakland with friends of Ara's and Nathan's, where we had luxurious and soft towels galore, and a morning at Kate's Kitchen near Haight and Fillmore. Delish!

On our way out of the city we tried to shoot the Golden Gate. The fog bank was amazing, and kept teasing us, fleeting glances of the bridge. At times it was a ghost bridge, we could hear it, but see no more than a few feet in front of us. After much rain, wind, and hopes, we gave up and made our way back to Oregon.

Despite a claustrophobic panic attack, and a painful hip cramp north of Eugene where I had to have Nathan pull the car onto the side of the road and I threw myself to the ground and popped my hip in and out of joint until it felt better, it was an amazing weekend.

I cannot remember the last time I stayed up laughing and screaming and crying over obscene comments for an hour after we turned the lights off, it was like a sleep over from high school, only way better. The company could not have been better. The food was amazing. The weather was perfect. The sights, the sounds, the experiences, it was a weekend I will never forget!

This is a video of bike ride i did yesterday up a mountain called Meall an Uillt Chreagaich which is about 2850 feet high in the Cairngorms. I started in Glen Feshie, which is a stunning place and full of heather at the moment. Then i headed up the track to the top of the mountain and now i'm knackered!

This is one of my favorite fisheye photos so far. I love the shadow. My cousin is the farmer and drove me out to the middle of the field to get this shot. Normally I wouldn't try a shot like this because I don't know what they are dropping. Here they were dropping rice seeds.

This old Borana warrior has killed an enemy in his days. This is why he is wearing a fallus shaped ornament on his head. When someone kills an enemy or a wild beast like a lion... he cutts of the testikels of his victim and wears it strapped around his arm untill it is gone. After that he wears this fallus shaped ornament so that his action is remembered.

This local registered car has always been seen knocking about town. Originally from Kings of Taunton, who were based on Bindon Road which is now the site of K&R Mitsubishi. I've always liked these wheeltrims, they look so intricate.

We took a two month hiatus and hosted a similarly themed "Photo this Caption" building contest, hence there being only ten scheduled editions. Anyhow, thanks for viewing and God bless!

Joe and I took a drive out into the country this afternoon, enjoying fields gold with canola and the wonderful old buildings that are still standing in the fields. This old house is looking tired but still has all of the grace and charm as when it was first built

This image was taken a couple weeks ago. My wife had waken me up at 5am and asked me to do some biking at Ocean Beach. We went up to the USS Francisco Memorial and saw the morning fog had already lifted at the Golden Gate. I took a snap shot of the bridge with the slanted cypress trees in the foreground. I was carrying my Sony A3000, 18-55mm OSS kit lens, and Canon FDn 35mm F2.8 with Metabone adapter only. My back felt so much lighter. This particular shot was taken with the vintage Canon lens.

This Mercedes V-class on diplomatic plates, was parked up on Aldford Street in Mayfair. The car was registered to the Embassy of Egypt, located a few streets away.

This photo at the Southaven Walmart was another taken in early 2014, hence the old orange low price signs. The original Project Impact overhead signs had character and depth to them, and I'm actually starting to miss those old orange signs a little bit as well :( Oh wait, orange came back with a vengeance in the new Pickup department and it's singnage. Never mind about missing any orange Walmart décor!

This magical woodland trail known as 'The Towers' is located 3 miles outside of Lismore Town. Here the visitor can stroll through woodlands and view the exotic gate lodge and bridge that were constructed by landlord Arthur Kiely Ussher to impress a very demanding wife who wished to live in a large house. The cost of building the elaborate Gothic entrance proved so great that the house was never built.

This design is my rendition of Jim Garrett's MOC (www.flickr.com/photos/decojim/24322330618). I stumbled on it online a while back and immediately recognised how effectively it had been captured in Lego. The original was brick-built, and I was only able to find two low-res photos, but a few hours later in Stud.io and this is what I came up with.

The Frazi-class Heavy Fighter was briefly seen several times in Babylon 5, often used in scouting and intelligence gathering missions.

This vehicle was aquired by Loyalty Connections Coach Travel of Westwood in Thanet in late March 2022, following the Closure of of its previous owner Gillies Coaches of Aylesham, and was seen parked up outside Woods Comercial Services in Aylesham.

I just love this clingy wet look "wiggle dress" that came in my last order from coquetryclothing.com! I thought it would look good, but I didn't expect it to look _this_ good! Call me a happy (very happy) customer!

I've matched this marvelous red "Mystique" wet look lycra spandex halter style minidress from coquetryclothing.com with my Premier copper fully fashioned Euro heel stockings from secretsinlace.com and my black patent peep toe platform pumps with the 5" heels from venus.com.

This little beauty finally arrived yesterday! I suspect the selenium meter is a bit off, but that might turn out to be a good thing because maybe then I'll finally get off my lazy ass and properly teach myself to use the sunny 16 rule.

This, I realised, is also the first time in 6 months that I've picked up my DSLR.

This cool old C2 was originally intended for Haverstraw Transit, but Gary Zeh said no! (to make a long story short).

This year 503 got a new DEST. Sign.

Love to see older stuff still kicking

I believe this scan of an inkjet-printed photo was taken in 1999, by our Incite Gaming Magazine staff photographer Rajat Ghosh.

Rajat captured me as I was art directing the group in a photo session at the MGM grand hotel in Las Vegas for our cover image. We only had 20 minutes, and I was frantically telling the guys how to pose. (They had to go on stage to perform a couple of songs at a WCW wrestling match before they introduced their Kiss-inspired wrestler "The Demon".) .... Needless to say, you can see Gene a little peeved at my direction. Ha!

The ink was beginning to fade off from the print, and I'm glad I remembered to scan this little piece and archive it on flickr.

This was created for the Down Under Challenge Group...

For those of you not there yet, this is what 42 looks like...and for those who have surpassed my age, you have to admit I don't look too shabby. Today is my birthday and so I sit posing with my new present...an Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy EX. I know what you're thinking, great taste in high end entry level guitars, right? I agree. The kicker is, I don't know a single chord yet. But I'll learn. And when I do...

My plan: to become a short, yet enigmatic rock star who wears a lot of purple. After several hit albums, I'll change my name to "The Artist Formerly Known As Lino" Then I'll change my name to a weird symbol, then purposefully create a string of mediocre albums until my record label will get so annoyed they'll dump me. From there I'll buy back the rights to my own music and when I'm finally on top of the world I'll get all goofy on some religion and no longer bump and grind my hips to sexually suggestive songs. I'm pretty sure its never been done before so wish me luck.

This was the most huge and amazing booth!! just loved everything!! and all perfection! the bad part is that everything was SD sized!! >_<"""

This image depicts children in a crate hoisted on board HMAS AUSTRALIA II. The event was the annual children's Christmas party and was hosted on 6 December 1930. The girl wearing glasses on the left is Miss Rosemary Game, daughter of Sir Philip (Governor of New South Wales) and Lady Gwendolen Game. The boy next to her is possibly her brother Philip Game and the boy far right is possibly her other brother, David Game. The girl with pigtails and wearing a hat is possibly Miss Rosemary Budge, daughter of Sir Harry Budge, Secretary to the Governor, Sir Philip Game.

This photo is part of the Australian National Maritime Museum’s Samuel J. Hood Studio collection. Sam Hood (1872-1953) was a Sydney photographer with a passion for ships. His 60-year career spanned the romantic age of sail and two world wars. The photos in the collection were taken mainly in Sydney and Newcastle during the first half of the 20th century.

This is the memorial to not one but two mining disasters at Auchengeich. In 1931 six miners were killed by an explosion - a number of their comrades tried to go back to save them, but were overcome by fumes and had to be rescued themselves.

The second disaster was in 1959, when 47 men were trapped by a blaze, a thousand feet below the surface of the Earth. So severe was the fire and smoke (most were overcome by the smoke, it is thought) that the rescue attempts could not get close, and eventually they were left with no choice but to flood the put to dowse the flames.

47 men gone just like that, dozens of families shattered. My mother was a wee girl when it happened, but she remembered some of the children whose family members were in the pit being taken out of school, wailing and screaming their grief. The history books like to talk about the Great Events - the Industrial Revolution, exploration, empire and all of that, but often neglects that everything was built on the broad backs of men who laboured in such dangerous conditions for little reward.

From the camera of my laptop... hence the poor quality.

This catches us up with the progress so far, as of the first week of April 2020. It should also be noted that while the stucco is being slathered on and covering over stuff, the lower portions of the building still retain those stone (or stone-looking) details - cool either way, and that stonework looks to be staying at this point! More updates are planned as progress here warrants...

This tranquil scene of 40 years ago might stir considerable nostalgia.

İstanbul in 1976 was peaceful, safe and - interesting. Very interesting. Imagine my great surprise when asked - by a teller at the bank where I was changing money - "What do you think of white Americans?"

(Eartha Kitt, the great African-American singer and actress, might have remarked, "Oh, those Turks!"

(Miss Kitt recorded a classic Turkish folk song, "Kâtıbim," in 1953; it is known in the U.S. as "Uska Dara (A Turkish Tale);" "Uska Dara" = Üsküdar'a, as in" Üsküdar'a gider iken." A "YouTube" audio is here. A "YouTube" clip of a 1967 television performance is here. Also of interest: "Üsküdar Vapurunda "Katibim" Sürprizi.")

Nostalgia aside, this photograph belies the political atmosphere of the times. The first "Nationalist Front" cabinet (Milliyetçi Cephe Hükûmetleri), a four-party coalition government organized by Süleyman Demirel during 1975, would collapse during 1977. Demirel's "Second Nationalist Front" cabinet (2. Milliyetçi Cephe Hükûmeti) would last for an even shorter interval . . .

In that era, pre-Internet, pre-social media (e.g. Twitter), a visitor who did not read the news might have come to İstanbul, stayed for a few days and then departed, all the while remaining blissfully unaware of Turkey's ongoing political turmoil.

UPDATE: I made the original scan of this image with the scanner set for too low of a resolution. I've made a "rescan" and uploaded it above (2021 October 27).
