resident chipMonk's attentive awareness
created a kind of vacuum…
as I walked past it
I felt pulled into that space
and noticed a chipmunk, at my eye level, in silent watchfulness
bringing peace

"Many people meditate in order that a third eye will open. For that they feel they should close their two physical eyes. They thereby become blind to the world. But the fact is that the third eye will never open. We can never close our eyes to the world in the name of spirituality. Self-realization is the ability to see ourselves in all beings. This is the third eye through which you see, even while your two eyes are wide open. We should be able to love and serve others, seeing ourselves in them. This is the fulfillment of spiritual practice."

I am having a blast experimenting with painting my pen and ink illustrations with tea. This is a piece inspired by Wednesday Adams. I did a limited edition print run, and hand painted each print with tea.
Third Eye also made Marvel Posters and puzzles all in super saturated day glo colors. They are all highly sought after and command high prices.
Such a powerful presence. The color and intensity. Ahhhh. White and deep Sandalwood lines highlight his Third Eye.
The third eye (also known as the inner eye) is a mystical and esoteric concept referring in part to the ajna (brow) chakra in certain spiritual traditions. It is also spoken of as the gate that leads within to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. In New Age spirituality, the third eye may alternately symbolize a state of enlightenment or the evocation of mental images having deeply personal spiritual or psychological significance. The third eye is often associated with visions, clairvoyance (which includes the ability to observe chakras and auras), precognition, and out-of-body experiences. People who have allegedly developed the capacity to utilize their third eyes are sometimes known as seers.
In Hinduism and Buddhism, the third eye is a symbol of enlightenment (see moksha and nirvana). In the Indian tradition, it is referred to as the gyananakashu, "the eye of knowledge", which is the seat of the "teacher inside" or antar-guru. The third eye is the ajna chakra (sixth chakra) also known as brow chakra or brow center. This is commonly denoted in Indian and East Asian iconography with a dot, eye or mark on the forehead of deities or enlightened beings, such as Shiva, the Buddha, or any number of yogis, sages and bodhisattvas. This symbol is called the "Third Eye" or "Eye of Wisdom", or, in Buddhism, the urna. In Hinduism, it is believed that the opening of Shiva's third eye causes the eventual destruction of the physical universe.
In the Upanishads, a human being is likened to a city with ten gates. Nine gates (eyes, nostrils, ears, mouth, urethra, anus) lead outside to the sensory world. The third eye is the tenth gate and leads to inner realms housing myriad spaces of consciousness.
Many Hindus wear a tilaka between the eyebrows to represent the third eye. Going hand in hand with religious denomination (sampradaya) are the religious marks worn by the devotees of the the various schools of Hindu theology. These marks are called tilaka, or in Hindi and many other regional languages, tika. The tilaka is a religious mark worn mainly on the forehead and is made primarily of sandalwood paste, clay, or ash. The word tilaka is literally a “freckle” or “spot” and it is considered highly auspicious to wear these marks. In general, there are three broad categories of tilaka marks, those worn by Vaishnavas, those worn by Shaivas and general marks. Tilaka marks are made with white, red, yellow or black colors. Vaishnava marks run vertically on the body and Shaiva marks run horizontally. The Vaishnava tilaka is the most extensive. A trained observer can tell exactly which school of theology a devotee is coming from by the color and shape of these tilaka marks. It is fun to visit a traditional holy place of pilgrimage during festival season to watch the holy men and try to read their tilaka and determine which sampradaya they are representing.

Pineal Gland is primarily responsible for Melatonin production, helping us get to sleep and dream, which might be why some people lean towards that as a possible "Third Eye".. If that's the case, I believe it's largely regulated by the amount of light in your environment. Turn off the lights, Activate your Pineal gland.. ?
I think a more likely culprit might be the Amygdala? But realistically I would lean towards a more complex system of inter-working parts that produce the typical 'third eye' results..
As for using Lucid Dreams to "Awaken" the Third Eye, I think that's a wonderful Idea. With neither the external distractions, and the more fluid states/frames of mind, you'll already be in a position that others might need deep meditation or other ritual or mind-altering conditions to achieve.
Once you're Lucid, you can trust that whichever brain parts might be responsible, you're personal image of what the Third Eye is, and what you might wish to accomplish by Activating it, is already some form of mental structure, and you can creatively script a scenario or event to do so.
I think I may try this myself by adding it into the Find your Symbol quest, such that when I find my symbol, part of that finding will be to activate or 'increase ability' to the 'third eye'; Then when I'm awake, I can focus on that dream and symbol, or maybe turning it special direction, to help tune in or out any third eye activites or messages
Occultists believe that the third eye is a vortex of power located in the middle of the forehead. They say it gives people the ability to see the future, or ghosts. Or even that daydreaming and imagination use the third eye, too, which sounds to me kind of like stretching the definition, but if so then yeah it can also refer to things you are seeing in a dream.
For people like me who aren't natural lucid dreamers, though, it helps to focus my thinking on one thing as I fall asleep. Supposedly, if you think of something over and over again as you sleep like "baseball, baseball, baseball" then you'll dream of playing baseball. Or, you'll dream of being at a fancy party full of werewolves, and think "...ball, baseball, baseball, what. am I doing here? I was just lying in my bed a minute ago thinking about baseball. How did I get to this party? Why are there werewolves? This is making no sense, it must be a dream!" Then it becomes a lucid dream.
My story starts with me smoking a pretty big amount of marijuana. While high, I learned how to flex an inner "muscle" inside myself, running from my forehead all the way down my spine. If I kept flexing it, I would induce this chill that would build up, until i decided to tense this "muscle" in a different way, sending the chill all down my spine. The next morning, I could still do it, even while sober. To this day I can induce this chill at will. This happened about a year ago.
Recently, I decided to do some research, and discovered it might be my pineal gland when other people had said they could do the same thing. A couple of them said to lay down, induce the chill, and hold it. You will feel a vibration build up, and after about 8-10 minutes you can build a universe to LD in.
Last night, I tried it(after smoking a bit of marijuana, which they said would help because of melatonin), and it was amazing. The muscle acts like an actual muscle, I get drained if I do it to much. I kept inducing this chill with my eyes closed, and every time i did, the blackness would gain a dimension. I know this sounds odd, but it looked like the blackness was 1d, then 2d, then 3d, and so on. After five minutes i started seeing color, and hypnagogic imagery was being created. I could feel sleep paralysis going through my body, and it felt good. I told myself i wanted to create a forest to train my LD'ing skills in. The trees started forming, and then I created the blue sky. The vivid color and the ability to create was so startling that i woke myself up :( nevertheless, it was an amazing experience. Has anyone else ever been able to do anything like this?
This is quite an interesting concept, as the main method I use to induce a WILD is to trigger a strange feeling inside my forehead which I can only describe as feeling like a black hole sensation. Like it is sucking inwards to the centre of it if that makes sense. As I fall asleep I'm still aware of this strange sensation as the other sensations then take over me that arn't intentional such as that fuzzy feeling, a vibration like buzzing inside my headand eventually the feeling of being disconnected from my body. Now I know this isn't OBE because every time I accomplish this, (which usually takes a little while to get my vision and motion back) I do not see my own body. So I can only assume I've drifted straight into a lucid dream. This happens almost instantly when I trigger this feeling in my forehead when I'm in the right state of mind to sleep. The best time for this is usually after waking up.
Now I don't know much about a third eye and I'd say I was a little more skeptic than superstitious, but your topic here seems to draw some kind of shared connection with the method I've always used to WILD. I'm sure some of you out there may have experienced something similar or use the same technique as I do. I'd be curious to know if anyone else can relate to an experience that may link to this topic somehow.

Day One:
Once upon a time....and only one. For we don't want these sort of situations repeating themselves. They can't. Once it happens it happens. Once you know what's going on, once you find out what you truly are, there is no returning from that. As you venture down the rabbit hole to have your third eye opened and you know all. You perceive all. You see what is down the rabbit hole.
Rabbit shit.
There's so much of it. It is carnage. The floor is awash with red, the remains of those who came before. Their red hats stained with a deeper, more delicious red. Did I say delicious? No, I don't. I wouldn't. I can't want to taste it? Only something so cold-blooded and devoid of feelings would want to do that.
I see the signs. Not metaphorical signs, actual signs with tortured puns and strangely incoherent grammar. "I am a free, I am not man, a number". I can't decipher this code. Perhaps it is known only to those that wrote it. As to the reason why they came down, well, we can only assume they needed a deep, dark, hole to hide in and listen to fairytales of how the big bad lizard men are coming to get them.
Can you hear that? I can hear it. The padding of angry paws. The smell of blood-tinged carrot breathe. They're sick of people coming down their rabbit holes looking for answers where there are none and those bunnies can be brutal. But not as brutal as a lizard man.
I once was a man who thought he was a shapeshifting lizard from beyond the cosmos. With the opening of my third eye, I realise I am, and I'm in the mood for bunny.
Its been a long time since I wrote a blog entry...one coming soon.
Here I am hanging out in my lil art corner. I finished my Mushroom Goddess painting last-night and today I am going to do some more work on my Kali inspired painting.
