I am having a blast experimenting with painting my pen and ink illustrations with tea.

We saw lots of these all over Costa Rica, and according to Wikipedia they are found from Mexico to Central Brazil and the Caribbean islands. This one is in the process of shedding it's skin - revealing the lovely fresh scales beneath. They are big - growing up to 1.7 metres and weigh up to 8kg! They are mainly arboreal and can fall up to 15 metres without harm - to them, you wouldn't want one to land on you! One interesting fact that I liked is that they have 3 eyes!

"Green iguanas have a white photosensory organ on the top of their heads called the parietal eye (also called third eye, pineal eye or pineal gland), in contrast to most other lizards which have lost this primitive feature. This "eye" has only a rudimentary retina and lens and cannot form images, but is sensitive to changes in light and dark and can detect movement. This helps the iguana detect predators stalking it from above." Wikipedia.

Wiki also states "Green iguanas from Guatemala and southern Mexico predominantly have small horns on their snouts between their eyes and their nostrils, whereas others do not." Some of the ones we saw had these too! (See other pics)

They also have a dewlap that helps in temperature regulation and is used in territorial and courtship displays.

More in comments below or in the set below right - note the nose horns on some of these!

Durga Puja, C.R. Park, New Delhi, India

Durga, a Hindu goddess, is one who redeems us of evil and distress. She is fierce, invincible and a mother. She is the main deity for Hindu Bengalis who primarily worship goddesses or the female divine form which symbolises energy (shakti) amongst other things. According to mythology, every year in the autumn month of the Hindu calendar (ashwin) the mother arrives at her parental home with her children. The rigorously constructed idols of clay and straw are painted, sometimes in traditional colours like in the picture above and sometimes in more contemporary ones. After the worship these idols are submerged in the river as the goddess is symbolically returning home only to come back again the next year.

My new custom bjd!

Is a hybrid with DollZone - The Moon head, and Fairyland - Minefee body.

I made her third eye carving the resin, and made the eyeball with UV resin. Then I create the eyelids with polymer clay.
