Reflection- Rule of Thirds
The picture on the top is of a statuette. The statuette was something I picked out when I was little, and has been sitting in my backyard for years. The statuette has a damaged look on the face which is a quality that I like about this picture. Also, I moved this statuette into a specific spot to get the background of the picture just right so there wouldn’t be anything distracting from the subject. The rule of thirds line goes down the center of the statuette and the dot is in the middle of her face. I adjusted this picture in camera raw which made the statuette stand out more and the colors pop.
The picture on the bottom is of a few pears. I put these fake pears on my dad’s barbecue because I liked the pattern of it and I didn’t think it would be distracting from the pears. The first red pear in front is the subject and the rule of thirds line goes directly down the center of the pear. I had to line these pears up in a few different places before I put them here, which gave me time to practice taking pictures in different ways before getting it perfect. I rotated this picture clockwise ninety degrees to fit on the eight and half by eleven paper. I like this picture because of the way I had lined up the pears and how there were leaves there when I shot it so it gave the table a little texture. Lastly, I adjusted this picture in camera raw to adjust the colors and temperature of the picture.

this was flaky rounds of phyllo or a similar thin dough, with tasty stuff inside. We had one vegetarian and once chicken, and the filling was ground - chicken, chickpeas or lentils or something, cinnamon, some pistacios. Very savory - so the liberal dusting of powdered sugar on the top was a surprise, but it worked! Very complex, interesting flavors.

A third session of "Near-IR" photography on the Saône river near Lyon, France, September 4 and 5, 2023, aboard my Rigid-Inflatable Boat « Planète Océan »;
For this session, I was forced to do it twice since my Minolta X-700 « Japan » has an unknown problem when used without the Minolta motor drive I MD. When manually cocked the shutter malfunction leading to a half frame, though correctly exposed. With the motor drive MD there are no problems at all. I returned the the same places the day after with the other X-700 (called « China ») that has no problems. Fortunately the weather was as beautiful (sunshine is essential for IR photography) as the day before I successfully took almost the same scenes between noon and 2 pm.
I selected again here a Rollei Retro 400S (Agfa Aviphot 400) originally used in aerial photography for its capacity to differentiate green tones and to clear in part the atmospheric haze. The Agfa Aviphot sensivity curve starts to decrease at 670 nm to fall at zero around 820 nm. The band starting at 780 (up to 2500nm) is called the "near infra-red" band.
The 36-exposure film was loaded in the Minolta X-700 SLR camera fitted with a normal lens Minolta MD 1:1.2 f=50mm. The lens was equipped with a 55mm screw-on IR filter with a cutoff at 720nm. Since the filter is so dark for a comfortable through-the-lens viewing, a FOCA "Universel" external view-finder (Made in France in the 50’s) was used for an easy framing.
Both films were exposed for 25 ISO using my Minolta Autometer III external light meter equipped with a selective 10° finder. The X-700 light metering system has not been used and was the camera was used in the manual mode using the exposure times of 1/60s and f/5.6 to 8.

After completion, the films were processed using Adox Adonal developer (equivalent to Agfa Rodinal) at dilution 1+25, 20°C for 10min30. The correct film was then digitalized using a Sony A7 body fitted to a Minolta Slide Duplicator installed on a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5. The RAW files obtained were then processed without intermediate files in LR and edited to the final jpeg pictures.
All frames of the film are presented in the dedicated album either in the printed framed versions and unframed full-size jpeg accompanied by some documentary smartphone Vivo Y76 color pictures.
About the camera and the lens :
Minolta X-700 SLR was manufactured in Japan and first released in 1981, the in China too from 1993 to 1995. I bought them in early 2022 from eBay accompanied with their motor drive MD I and other accessories. The MD 1:1.2 f=50mm was purchased as a vintage lens on line in the mid 2010's.
