I think that Bluethroat is Europe's most beautiful songbird. The throat looks colourful enough to be a Christmas tree decoration and the copper triangles on its tail sides are exquisite. Its scientific name Luscinia svecica translates as Swedish Nightingale and it was in northern Sweden where I photographed this stunning male. There are two main races of Bluethroat in Europe. The white spotted race (cyanecula) has a white spot in its blue throat and breeds mainly in reedbeds in central and southern Europe. But this is the red-spotted race (nominate svecica) which breeds in birch and willow scrub in Northern Europe. There are also a few pockets of birds with a solid blue throat. The song is amazing too, with mimicry of other bird songs repeated three or four times. This singing male was perched on top of a Juniper bush.
When people think of New York, they usually think of New York City and its crime, crowds, homeless, etc.. The State of New York is so much more than that. Upstate New York in particular has wonderful State Parks, hiking trails, many beautiful waterfalls and spectacular displays of fall colors when the trees change.
WWI recruiting poster. The artist Harry Lawrence Oakley, 1882-1960 (signed bottom right) was a British silhouette artist. He designed posters for the British army while he was a captain with the 8th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment in WWI.
This poster appears in a photo that was taken in Waterford City on 5 January 1915. Wonder how many passers-by paused to consider joining up...

One morning my son rescued this Hummingbird from our cat's . We think it flew into our house window and was dazed. We brought it in the house to join us for coffee and watch the news while it recovered. After a half hour or so we placed the hummingbird on our climbing rose bush and said our goodbye's.
Ant Carver's 'The Thinker' street art
This striking Street art is part of a series of works exploring dealing with loss and grief and in this instance this two floor wall draws inspiration from Auguste Rodin’s iconic The Thinker statue which has also been known as The Mourner. This stunning work can be found on Herbert Road, Plumstead, South East London and was put up with support from Street Art Atlas.

I think there are 20 class 47/57 in shot, and 5 class 37. One of the 37s has been fired up and it clagging gently.
Most of the depot infrastructure dates from around 1944, when the depot was expanded because of high levels of war traffic. After closure in 1968, it became 'Steamtown' and I remember a great visit in the later 1970s. This finally closed in 1998, and it is now the centre for West Coast Railways. The main shed has been extended towards the camera more recently.
I've found another photo that I forgot to upload! Pink Treeson and the 3D bubble :)
I ordered more Bubblefun 'flavors' and some additional members to the Treeson family -- I can't wait for ALL of them to arrive!

I think I've only seen one or two Halloween Pennants before today when we saw many dozens of them in the prairie section of Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington. It was a bit breezy and I ended up getting this view from behind as the dragonfly struggled for a better grip. I think this is a female with yellow colored stigma (small colored sections of the wings near the tips) versus magenta coloring that males would have. Hennepin County, MN 06/25/22
My Friend when I think of you.
I think of all that we've been through.
All the times we argue and fight,
I know deep inside that it isn't right.
I, then feel bad and alot of pain.
It feels like I've fallen from the sky like the rain.
I love you dear friend with all of my heart.
But now that you're gone I've fallen apart.
I'm getting better as the days go by.
I wish sometimes this was all a big lie.
I pray to you every night.
It's like you're my fire, a burning light.
My dear friend, I miss you alot.
I still wonder why you were put in that spot.
I know you're in a place much better than here.
Watching and helping me with all of my fear.
Our friendship my dear friend,
we will have to the end.
Friends til the end is what we will be.
Someday we'll be together,
together you and me.
I had shot the gay parade over 1000 pictures , I have posted some of them at Flickr , but I have yet to post over 750 more to my Gay Prade set 2009...
I would copy the Flickr link to Facebook, as most of the Facebook members committed and part of the gay community including my Hijra Guru Laxmi Narayan Tripathi dont access Flickr..I like Facebook, but because of overreaching the limit of links I was told in no easy terms by the Facebook team my account would be disabled for spamming..me a positive spam.
I will in a few minutes reach 89000 photo blogs at Flickr .and at least Flickr does not consider me a positive spam yet.
So as a poet this kick on my black ass hit me hard and I have emotionalized it in pedestrian verse..dedicating it to Mr Mark Zuckerburg..
I am not into porn, I am not into groups either at Flickr or Facebook..
But three places which are home away from home
is Flickr , Facebook and Twitter.
I had earlier thought of deleting my Facebook account ..but than it would be my loss , as my friends are all Facebook hard core fans ..
Rayo my childhood friend of 50 years known as Ray Framroze says he only browses Facebook and no other site..
So my poem with malice to none

I think the COME had been chasing the HOME with fish under the water so once the Hoodie came up with the fish the COME was right behind,
Nycticorax nycticorax,
Morro Creek,

I think there must be a fine line between play and learning to fish. And maybe even playing in the water where fish live may lead to a catch. This bird fledged recently--note the wispy, white feathers on crown.
Last of the beach related scenes I think. Interesting part of the country compared to my normal stamping grounds, rolling green landscapes, flat long beaches and big sky. The moody looking sky here turned into a major downpour a couple of hours later, which seems to have set the tone for the rest of this week. Summer seems to have been delayed (again)...
Yes, that little spec on the beach is the lump of driftwood from the last pic.
A perfect Autumn's day comes to an end at Ullapool Harbour, Scotland. This is a 6 shot hand held pano with frames taken in portrait orientation then cropped at a 2:1 ratio. I normally prefer to have the horizon dead centre on my pano's but the cloud formations were so impressive I just had to include more sky - hopefully the composition works.
Have a great weekend all!
I have begun painting Santas and Christmas things. The Santas will become Christmas cards, miniature paintings, and keepsakes. I put this one on karensketchbook
