Looking Close... on Friday: Things with Wings

Expo van Panamarenko in Museum Kröller-Müller Arnhem, the Netherlands

The Kroller Muller museum:

"For decades, Panamarenkoy has been researching movement, flight and gravity, often resulting in unconventional and imaginative objects." The centerpiece of the exhibition is a Continental Airplane from 1974, with a wingspan of 18 meters.

There are also three other 'flying devices' by Panamarenko on display and designs for airplanes with insect wings, sketches for an enormous zeppelin that he actually made in 1971, sketch sheets of a rocket backpack to fly through the universe (and the 'Reise in den Sternen') and designs for man-powered aircraft engines.

Ohara Koson was a Japanese painter and woodblock print designer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, part of the shin-hanga or the “new prints" movement.

Ohara Koson was famous as a master of kachō-e (bird-and-flower) designs. Throughout a prolific career, in which he created around 500 prints, he went by three different titles: Ohara Hōson, Ohara Shōson and more commonly Ohara Koson. Naming of artists, paintings and prints appears to be quite flexible and fluid over this period!

This postcard was sent from Japan in 1911 and is entitled ‘Egret and Water Lilies’ part of his bird and flower designs.

He's really a villain from Spiderman, but even villain's have feelings and sometimes let their feelings show. He's feeling sentimental here, giving you a heart bouquet. ❤️ Happy "almost" Holidays. :-)

Crazy Tuesday - Things with Wings

www.flickr.com/groups/7dayswithflickr/pool/

My plum tree is blooming in November (and in December) and its fragrant flowers attract all kinds of birds.

We drove past Warnervale airstrip today on the way back from a bushwalk and beach hike, which wass where I enjoyed a airshow with my son last year.

So, these are a bunch of planes, aeroplane if you are British, airplane if American, or if a lazy aussie just a plain old plane. I think they may have specifically been RAAF Roulettes, which were pretty cool.

Hope your week is ending well wherever you are in the world.

I have a challenge for you..... next time you are the supermarket and lined up at the checkout (if you are lucky enough to still have any non-self-service checkouts left) I challenge you to NOT look at what the person in front of you has in their trolley ;) You just have to hey!

Die Blumenelfe schickt einen letzten Gruß an meine Mutter, die unlängst von uns gegangen ist …

Es ist zwar traurig, doch lasst uns ein Lächeln zu ihr in die andere Welt senden ! 😇

The flower elf sends a last greeting to my mother, who recently passed away …

It is sad, but let us send her a smile into the other world ! 😇

Our home and our garden are adorned with Angels and Fairies. A picture of one of them was a must for this week's theme :-))

Grabbed a close-up of a 1950's Ford Thunderbird logo at a local antique car show. As you can see it was a beautiful shade of pink.

Smile on Saturday.

When real life fails, give fantasy a chance!

-Millie Cruz

Did you know?

Fantasy prone personality (FPP) is a disposition or personality trait in which a person experiences a lifelong extensive and deep involvement in fantasy. This disposition is an attempt, at least in part, to better describe "overactive imagination" or "living in a dream world".

Stand for something, even if it means standing alone.

Oftentimes the one who flies solo has the strongest wings.

Things with wings

Dragons appear in many countries, cultures, and myths. Centerpieces of religion, legends, and art going back for thousands of years. Like St. George slaying the dragon sculpture in Berlin's Nicholai Quarter or in Chinese New Year celebration parades; dragons always excite me.. So I submit this fearsome monster.
