This name is on the Roll of Honour in the Memorial Hall. I have a short portfolio about him. Killed in the battle of Dorian. The British were totally outclassed by the Bulgarians. Losses British 12,000 Bulgarians 2000. Battle ended on the day he died.
His mother Emma died just 3 months later aged 48. Her grave is in All Saints Churchyard, Harnham.

Yesterday Aline Smithson took some portraits of me. I'm really excited to see them. It was a lot of fun.
I have known her for about two years, and she is an amazing and inspirational photographer. She mentored me as I applied to college, turned me onto medium format and the fun in toy cameras. For that I am eternally grateful to her. She is very sweet, and just someone I am very glad to know.

Also you should check out Jan von Holleben , I can't get over how magical his images. Especially look at his Dreams of Flying series. But again, you should look at everything.

Unlike every other weekend in the recent past I got the call at 7:00 am to go to work and initially I expected good things. As soon as I got to site and talked to the geologist I felt like it might not be a quick in and out job... let's just say 'might' was an understatement. Our tools bridged many times going down into the well (when they hit a ledge or tight spot and don't want to go down any farther), as we pulled off the bottom of the well we almost got stuck and on our last pass 2 strands of our cable decided to break and create this huge ugly mess. So at this point we have a few million dollars worth of tools 3 km down a well and we can't pull our line up any farther as this thing won't fit through our guiding pulleys. It took a few hours to clear this issue up but now we have a weakened cable pulling tools out of a well that is collapsing in on itself and eventually convince the consultant on site that we arn't going to make it out of the hole, we'll break our line if we pull any harder as we pulling 85% of the tension would take to break the weak point at the top of our tools and they may be lost forever. Somehow miraculously as the consultant is on the phone with the fishermen to drive out to the rig and get us unstuck the tools pop free, we didn't get stuck any more times coming up and we made it home 25 hours after we left.
Here we see the same things as the previous except the feeling of being in a cell is even more pronounced. The railing serves as bars of the cell, and the man is trapped in the walled city. Caillebotte successfully evokes an extremely depersonalized view of the city in these three paintings. The figures in them seem disaffected, or in the last two their faces are away from us, faceless figures in a faceless city. In all three paintings we see the bourgeoisie, and they look downright bored. A class which is supposed to reap the benefits of a new society is seen here as a class of automatons. Hausmannization has stripped them of their city, of their opportunity and has replaced it with beautifully monotonous architecture. Haussman himself noted that "the Capital of the Empire, the greater part of the bourgeoisie and almost all the aristocracy were hostile" to his plans (Benjamin 127). The stage was set for a new kind of outlet, and this is where the cabaret enters the picture.
