The two remaining nestlings have graduated to be branchlings. They're hopping around on the branches around the nest and flapping their wings a lot.

I started doing this at about 30 years ago - wrapping up the funniest, silliest, ugliest, or awfullest things I could find, then family takes from the bag at random. Makes for lots of laughs.

A few of the wild things growing in the back yard. The pole helps support blackberry vines. My backyard looking west in the late afternoon.
It's often about the simple things, isn't it? Painting and photography are first about seeing, they say. Writing is about observing. Technique is secondary. Sometimes the simple is the most difficult.

This is a not particularly large example of Xanthorrhoea johnsonii. I'd say there's nothing exceptional about it — in the sense that grass trees aren't uncommon. But, of course, every one of them is exceptional.
Those spikes rising (more correctly risen but for today's fixation with being "in the moment") from the plant carry vast numbers of tiny cream-coloured nectar rich flowers. It's difficult to see them here, but those flower spikes are swarming with butterflies and bees.
Despite this being an unnatural setting, this is Nature at her best — taking care of these little things.

Bjorn Olinder's Pictures
I have learned about dying by looking at two pictures
Bjorn Olinder needed to look at when he was dying:
A girl whose features are obscured by the fall of her hair, planting a flower-
and a seascape: beyond the headland
A glimpse of immaculate sand that awaits our footprints.
Michael Longley
Thinking of this, i decided my 16 things would be in fact 16 things (though I cheated, there are plurals on the list) took me a while, roberta and britt but thank you for your tag. :)
When nothing else subsists from the past, after the people are dead, after the things are broken and scattered...the smell and taste of things remain poised a long time, like souls...bearing resiliently, on tiny and almost impalpable drops of their essence, the immense edifice of memory.
~ Marcel Proust
