Another angle on glorious Sainte-Chapelle
A Reader's Digest article about La Sainte-Chapelle introduced me to the phrase “thin place”. They go on to explain its meaning in this way. “A thin place,” is a place where the boundary between heaven and earth is especially thin. It’s a place where we can sense the divine more readily.”
For me, it certainly was a highlight of my trip to Paris.
The Sainte-Chapelle is a royal medieval Gothic chapel, located near the Palais de la Cité, on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris, France.
Begun some time after 1239 and consecrated on 26 April 1248, the Sainte-Chapelle is considered among the highest achievements of the Rayonnant period of Gothic architecture. Its erection was commissioned by King Louis IX of France to house his collection of Passion Relics, including Christ's Crown of Thorns - one of the most important relics in medieval Christendom.
Along with the Conciergerie, the Sainte-Chapelle is one of the earliest surviving buildings of the Capetian royal palace on the Île de la Cité. Although damaged during the French revolution, and restored in the 19th century, it retains one of the most extensive in-situ collections of 13th-century stained glass anywhere in the world.

Again, the TEŽ tower for testing lightbulbs and its surroundings, in Zagreb. It seems redevelopment plans were made, but they didn't progress much.
Taken with Canon EOS 50E film camera and Sigma 24–70mm F3.5–5.6 UC Aspherical zoom lens, on expired Ferrania P30 Alpha film.
Developed with Adox Adonal, 1+50 dilution, at 22.5°C.
Scanned with Plustek OpicFilm 8100 film scanner, using VueScan.
These photos are quite contrasty, from what I've seen. Ferrania P30 seems to work best when developed with Rodinal 1+100 in a stand process. It's good to know for next time!

Calliandra surinamensis is a low branching evergreen tropical shrub that is named after Suriname, a country in Northern South America. The plant usually has complexly branched multiple trunks and grows to a height of about 5 meters, although many sources suggest that it only attains a height of 3 meters. Left unpruned it grows long thin branches that eventually droop down onto the ground.

Happy New Year 2025! Just after the New Year, the weather turned snowy and the winter was finally here. Although the sea was covered with ice and snow, it was apparent that the ice is still paper thin
We've got sketchy ice cover with daytime temperatures sometimes going well above freezing and then dropping back down below during the night. Our lack of snow lets this thin, smooth ice reflect the beautiful sky above.

Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after, thusly providing symmetry over not only space but time, and exalting life’s foundational dynamic symmetry. Robust, ordered, symmetric growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life. In the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. A nice colorful sky this evening. Every sunset has a different feel and look. This one had several thin clouds illuminating with various shades of orange. Adjusted the white balance to bring out the golden tones.
