John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.

A slight skiff of snow was on the ground this morning as we crawled out of bed. When we headed into the town of Glennallen, we passed Plumb Bob Lake and noticed a lone trumpeter swan, a majestic sight, making its way through the thin ice. I am sure the migrators will be doing just that, migrating before too long. I will be sad to see these beautiful birds leave, and I can't wait for their return in the Spring.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II EF 24-105/4L IS USM was my workhorse until I got the Nikon D800 & D800E with the 70-200 mm 2.8 VR2 zoom.
Canon, Nikon, you can't go wrong with the pretty 45surf model goddesses! (Though the D800 is my new love.)

At only 6mm thin, the credit card sized @xia SlimShot with its metallic silver shell is ultra-compact. It even gets a mention in the Guinness World Records as the worlds thinnest camera.
It was my first digital camera and came out in 2002. I used it for emailing and website building. It took up to 1,000 images between charges but only had a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Still working.

I'm working on an anthology of classic, epic poetry, which begins with selections from Homer's Iliad and Odyssey! :) I've replaced the Roman names with the Greek names: "RAGE, Sing, O goddess, the rage of Achilles son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Greeks.
