Materials Science and Engineering Professor Tim Chambers working with molten metals in the MSE Advanced Lab in the Herbert H. Dow Engineering Building on the North Campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Friday afternoon, February 17, 2023. The floor of the lab where the pour will happen has a layer of sand on it to protect it in case of spills.
The Advanced Lab is home to MSE 360, a course about structural materials used for building everything from vehicles to buildings and beyond. In the first half of the course, students learn standard alloys before moving into design. MSE 360 is an opportunity to gain experience in both theory and application.

Newcastle based band, Great Man Theory, opened up with 'The Horse' which builds up after a slow start into a glorious noise as the band get really hit the pace. going. Guitarist Rob Jarvis plays a great echoey riff as vocalist James Smithells does his best to get the crowd involved although judging by the reaction there may still be a few hangovers lingering from the previous nights shenanigans. Smithells short vocal passages are good and he really stretches his voice during some of the longer notes. The instrumental mid-section gives the band a chance to show the crowd what they can do and it’s a promising start from them. 'Riverblind' is up next with its stop-start intro and Smithells has a somewhat easier time of it with this one vocally. The track has a heavy groove with Jarvis pulling out a great solo which ebbs and floors in between a rolling drum beat from Matt Absolon. The bands chosen cover song, 'Fat Bottomed Girls' by Queen, was the least impressive of all the tracks here. Don’t get me wrong, it was a competent cover, but the vocals during the chorus didn't really mix that well but like I said, it was competent. 'What Is Mine' (the first track on their EP) was altogether a better performance – fast and furious from the get go, the twin guitar sound worked really well and made up for the slightly lacklustre cover.

I came upon this scene while crossing a field, obviously looking for birds to photograph.
It struck me that while one was natural and the other man-made, both were obstacles nonetheless !
In theory, citizens of the European Union are allowed to move to, live in, and in certain circumstances access the welfare system of any EU country to which they relocate. What are the legal and the moral limits of this freedom? Why is freedom of movement important in an open society? What impact would restricted freedom of movement have in the European Union?
In January of this year a group of MEPs issued a Joint Motion for a Resolution on respect for the fundamental right of free movement in the EU. What is the possible impact?
On Tuesday, April 1, the radio network Euranet Plus staged a debate on all of these questions and more at the European Parliament in Brussels. The shoot was inspired by the autumn warmth , bringing action to the earthy colors and vintage styling of this season. The garments were carefully selected and put together to highlight the eye catching red bow tie and Product Red Monsterbeat headphones; Levi tapered denim and a clean cut shirt from the Zara Man collection sits wonderfully underneath the vinatage styled cotton cardigan with elbow patches and hand knitted scarf, the footwear is from supra to give the look more of a trendy edge.

GIRLS' THEORY: ME-SEARCH RESEARCH was produced in a year-long workshop with girls aged 14-17, using the media to explore their own lives and the world around them. In their own voices, the girls cover topics such as violence, stereotypes of women, sex, relationships, reputation, and the future.

a well spent saturday at a local art store with a great teacher. I learned soooo much. little practical things I wouldn't have figured out on my own. Things I was doing "wrong"...as far as paint...which I'm learning is quite the science..and I never was good at science...lol. :)
Mutual trust is the basis for all cooperation. In order to ensure success in the training on the spot and—as the OMLT concept envisions—to live, work, and eat together with the Afghans, the team will drive over to the Afghan camp on an almost daily basis. Until then, it will be a matter for each airman, along with building up a sustainable relationship of trust with the Afghan partners, to concentrate also on figuring out the security situation on the spot and dealing with it in an appropriately prudent manner. Fall is here and with the turning of leaves, Fusion will be sponsoring a campus-wide art installation to promote unity through the allusion of strings. By identifying the similarities we share despite our differences, we aim to unite our student body. The project will concentrate on the uniqueness of each student while demonstrating the commonalities between all of us in a beautiful way. Whether your niche at Lehigh lies within athletics, Greek life, theater, engineering, music, politics, or design - as students, we nonetheless share one common characteristic, being a member of the Lehigh community. By taking your own string and weaving in and out of the display, Fusion’s goal is to both highlight student’s individual strengths while also opening our eyes to the entire student body.
The String Theory project will be taking place from November 2nd-4th at 11-5pm on the UC Front Lawn! Swing by on your walk home from class to make your mark on Lehigh while also meeting students you might have never crossed paths with. Our true passion for design as well as involvement in Lehigh community will be showcased as we invite you to join Fusion in making a difference. A member of Fusion, Hayden Hosto, 18', noted, “I am very excited we are reaching outside of our normal design work to influence the Lehigh community. I think this is a great opportunity to show Lehigh students that we’re “knot” so different.” Join us in grabbing a string and making an impact!
