Bruce Springsteen rocked Royal Farms Arena witha 3.5 hour set performing The River in it's entirety.
this is the boss .. the kingpin .. the lady killer....when he struts into the yard, the other bucks go the other way lol! He is a handsome brut!

An homage to Rock's Poet Laureate, Bruce Springsteen's The River. One of the more influential albums and songs of my early cruising years.

The world famous "THE BOSS" burgers, fries, shakes and soft drinks. Arguably the BEST HAMBURGERS AND FRIES ON PLANET EARTH.
Sure you could go to Mars for a better burger, but think of all the gas and time you'll waste on that trip, trying to find a better burger...
Oh, I should add, I've been coming here for my burgers since they opened. So I might be a bit predigest? I love this little burger joint. Best people ever, work here. Oroville itself is one of California's best kept secrets. Great community and great people for the most part. But people being what we are, you can always catch a bad one from time to time. When that happens, toss em' back and catch another one, because most of them are top notch!

The Boss had hit that time of the year when nature’s bounty (at least as it presents itself in the Niagara Peninsula around Grimsby, Ontario) is producing at it’s peak. That in turn predictably results in an overwhelming urge to revert to her farming heritage and start to preserve the best of what we can get either from the garden or from local farms (as much as possible) for us to enjoy in the coming winter. Make no mistake, what she preserves for us establishes a benchmark for taste and quality the commercial world can only dream of. Furthermore, much of what she does has no commercial equivalent. If she gifts anyone one of her treasured jars, the fortunate recipient can be guaranteed to taste and then exclaim with pleasure at what only anyone from a similar background can truly grasp. It just does not get any better than this. Seen here, sitting on the kitchen buffet all waiting to get stored in the cold room, are a sampling of her efforts (from left to right): Gooseberry Apple Jam, Peach Jam, Pickled Garlic Scapes, Salt Dill Pickles and Sweet Dills. In front are a smattering of fresh fruits and veggies: red sweet pepper, orange, bananas and strawberries. And more to come. Life is good. - JW

Taken using tripod-mounted Nikon D800 fitted with an AF Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 lense, ISO100 , Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Aperture Priority Mode, f/16.0, 2 sec with an EV-0.33 exposure bias. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source: set final image size to be 9000 px wide, crop to an XPAN format (24:65 aspect ratio), set white balance manually by setting colour temperature to 7032K based on a test exposure of the same shot but with a Kodak Gray card from which the colour temperature was measured, apply Tone Mapping at default levels, darken image overall by setting Exposure Compensation to EV-0.86, use the Shadows/Highlights tool to recover highlight detail, slightly boost Vibrance, apply a little noise reduction, apply sharpening (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: use the Curves tool to lift the black point slightly and pin the curve at about 20% up from the black end of the curve retaining the default curve above this point, very slightly increase brightness and contrast, sharpen slightly overall, save, scale to 6200 px wide, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on bottom, save.

Point taken. My small size and calm voice probably help keep surprise encounters like this from escalating beyond posturing. I was standing in a field photographing the old guy when "The Boss" stormed on to the scene, ready to rumble. A 300 lbs buck deciding I barely merit a flick of the ears is fine with me!
The Boss was standing in the kitchen on the other side of the screen door from me and I had a flashback to an image I had seen about a half century ago of a young lady behind a screen window. The sun had covered the wall with bright patches of dappled light, some of which caught her and her red shirt. The overall effect was reminiscent of the look in paintings form a century ago. - JW

Taken using hand-held Nikon D800 fitted with an AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm VR 1:4.0 lense set to 82mm, ISO450 (Auto ISO), Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Shutter Priority Mode, f/4.0, 1/250 sec with an EV-1.33 exposure bias to keep the highlights from blowing out. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: set final image size to be 9000px high, apply Tone Mapping at default levels and then apply Dynamic Range Compression to help manage the brightness difference between the red shirt and the face areas, use the Graduated Neutral Density/GND tool to darken the bottom right corner again to try and tame that overly bright red shirt area, slightly increase Contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, slightly boost Vibrance, sharpen (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: use the Curves tool op a copy of the layer to significantly darken the brighter red areas areas and then use the Hue-Saturation-Brightness tool to significantly desaturate the red shirt, add a black/transparent layer mask to show the layer below and then use a large soft edged brush with white pant to reveal the now significantly tamed red bright areas, slightly boost overall contrast, sharpen slightly, save, scale image to 6000px high, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3000 px high for posting online, sharpen, save.
