I know it seems cliche and what not but I was really not happy or feeling it today.
No one would text me back. And I barely see my friends. I just feel so lonely when it comes to having friends. But I am glad I have an amazing boyfriend.

While at work this evening the power went out. Granted, from the storm that has been going on all day, it was kinda inevitable. This was the text message that one of my co-workers got shortly after the store went black and, somewhat, quiet. The kitchen staff, of course, celebrated, with me concluding our little fanfare with: "Take Out!" That was followed by some laughter.
The power company said that the electricity would be restored by 8pm. So, the closers (myself included) and assistant stuck around until about 9pm, just making sure that if the power came on we were ready to take orders.
Around 11pm, the power came back on, after 5 hours of being out.

I was going to post a photo of the dog I took for my day 22 as but I thought it would be fitting to post a wee announcement of grandbaby number 10 instead.
Although I would have prefered to post a shot I took myself of Mr Ethan Michael Scott Wilkinson (who weighed in at a whopping four pounds fifteen ounces this morning at 8:43) but we will be getting to see him sooner than later no doubt so a gangie photo will be forthcoming.
Our son sent me a text with a photo so I did get to show him off to a few at work.
So here is a tiny photo on the IPhone for my day 22 post. Happy Birthday Baby Boy! Welcome to this crazy world.
"Send this Rose 2 every1 U care 4 including me if u care. See how many u get. If u get a dozen then you are loved."
Sent to me from an unrecognized number.
*Note: Text messaging actually does not come with my plan. So if anybody sends me any, I get charged for it, whee.

This morning, I had a text conversation with my daughter (who is in New York City on a school trip, in case you haven't noticed). She said they'd gone out shopping this morning and she picked up a few things (a hoodie, a hat, some stuff for her siblings).
She asked me what we wanted. I told her to pick me up some postcards (cheap and pretty). She already did and wanted to know what else to get us (Mom and Dad). I told her to spend her money on herself! We worked hard to get that money and through some very generous friends, we were able to cover the cost of her trip AND her spending cash. "That's YOUR money," I texted, "Spend it on YOU."
She said, "I was thinking of getting you something you could take photos of."
This went back and forth for a while and I thought she finally caved in and decided to spend her money on herself. Then I got this text...
Damn kid. She's just as stubborn as her mother when she went to Australia in 2005. ;-)
I received this text message from my sister today after she got two positive HPTs. She has an appointment with her doctor Wednesday to confirm the results, but I'm thinking two positives this morning and another positive this afternoon is a pretty good sign! Do you know how excited I am about the endless photo opportunities this baby is going to give me?! Awesome. The whole thing is just overwhelming and kind of amazing.
By the way, that's Adrian brushing Eliza in the background. It looks like he is trying to strangle her, but he's actually just protecting everyone in our house from choking on a giant hairball.
I came home from work a few/several weeks ago to find a package addressed to Yasminay (which name-usage is kinda the way to my heart, but only coming from a select number of people).
Inside were a pair of 'daffodil socks' from UncommonGoods, and a note from Batman in Mauritius: 'This is for keeping me entertained with your international smsz when I was away. =)'
I didn't know international textmessaging merits surprise gifts in the mail, but who's complaining? Not I.
The hilarious part is that, just the week before, Hashim had sent out an email to me, Anjum, Hoda, Zana, Baji, Iffat, and Ayesha, with the subject line, 'i need a suggestion...', and the body: 'sending a gift online to someone. any thoughts? i'm leaning towards food.'
Being useless at such advice, I suggested dark chocolate truffles, Karachi halwa, photobooks, and CEREAL.
(How was I to know?)
Also, there are 61 emails in that gmail-thread now, thanks to our crackheaded, tangential conversations.
Also#2: I LOWVE the socks - even if they were a pain in the ass to photograph. ;)
PS: Think of how amazingly these socks would have gone with the rainbow-striped gloves I didn't end up buying!
PPS: Thank you, crackstar rockstar!

This is a survey for my Social Sciences 300 class.
In class, we have discussed the value of confession and how it relates to the idea of the audience on the Internet. In order for something to be perceived as truly confessional thus attaining its value as an object of interest, it needs to have some type of signifier telling the audience that it is in fact real, and/or authentic. It is this signifier I am interested in, not just in terms of how it works as a qualitative navigational tool for YouTube-users, but also how it affects a visual piece of information in terms of what values we put into it as viewers.
That what lies beneath and cannot be seen except in the mind of each spectator due to individual experiences is what I want to explore. What signifiers do we use to perceive something as more authentic and more interesting? Is there a universal trigger for these responses? Is that trigger situated in the blur of the undefined?
When is a work with low visual or aural fidelity more enticing than if it would be executed in high fidelity? And when is low fidelity considered more reliable as a piece if information that its high fidelity counterpart? Design historian Philip B. Meggs wrote about Analytical Cubism that “fascination grows from the unresolved conflict of the sensual and intellectual appeal of the pictorial structure in conflict with the challenge of interpreting the subject matter”
