Okay, so ive not posted anything for a long long time. Ive been super busy doing various bits of video work.

Luckily this work has enabled me to be able to purchase a battery for my bowens lights as well as finally get my hands on the beautiful 5D MKII.

So today, whilst the sun was out, I grabbed my pal Oli to go have a quick test with the new gear. It was definitely a learning curve. Cant wait to experiment with some proper shoots

Test roll: almost all images are ruined. On the lower & left side of the negative. Why, I don't know. (BTW some images don't have this problem.) What's happened??

On my way home with my new wide angle lens, stopped at a weinerschnitzel for some chilidogs and test shots :)

27 décembre 2011.

i may - or may not? - have messed with Aeryn's face too much.

she has/had a company faceup but today while prepping her for the meet tomorrow i decided i wanted to try and do what i had intended to do for a long time, which was remove her cheek blushing.

while cute, i never really liked it on her because her character is meant to be a frail, indoors-y type girl who is a little sickly, so she should have a pallor (mary-sue-ism alert at 10 o' clock, sir!)

of course i only have experience "practicing" faces on Rilena and Frankie Stein...

first i forgot that before the dark blush, there is a mild tan blush layer which also has to be removed unless you want the doll to look like she has muddy smudges on her face - all this while avoiding messing up her make up too much.

i'm worried i missed a spot, so i'll double check later... that is part of the reason i took this photo too.

second i tried to alter her make-up a little but as you can see it's a bit sloppy. i re-did her under eye shine using white watercolor pencil and sparkly powder. i think i layed it on too thick and didnt blend properly, so maybe i will redo it, but not sure if i will do that *tonight*

then i defined her eyebrows a teeny bit more with brown watercolor pencil. finally i dabbed some of the paint off her lips to give them a paler pink color.

i don't know if this new look is acceptable, or if i totally just effed up my expensive SOOM faceup - of course, nothing can't be fixed, but i welcome any opinions or, uhh, gentle critique.

also if you follow me and see her tomorrow, please save the backtalk for when i'm not listening if she looks like crap T.T"

oh, and final note of credit - this baby blue babydoll dress was made by the extremely talented Silje.

my new toy Casio Exilim Z550

I was finally able to successfully develop not one, but two rolls of film this week in photography class. The very first roll of film I shot a couple weeks ago was ruined by my own hands (R.I.P.). I must have inadvertently exposed the film while loading it into the developing tank because there were huge blotches of haze all over the place. This week I made sure I was extra careful when transferring two rolls of film into the developing tank, and thankfully, there were no blotches present this time around. I finally made some contact sheets and did a quick print of one of the photos. I didn't have too much time to work on this print because class was about to end, but hopefully next week I'll be able to make more prints and do some contrast filter tests as well. Also, my scanner really sucks, so this scan doesn't look so hot. I'm seriously considering buying a film scanner now... I'd really like to shoot more film in the future, and scanning negatives is so expensive at photo labs... I think I'd be saving a lot more money in the long run if I purchased my own film scanner. My friend has the Epson Perfection V700 and likes it. He also suggested several Nikon film scanners as well, like the Super CoolScan 5000, 8000, and 9000, but those are much more expensive. We'll see... I need to do some major research... a film scanner is next on my "want" list...
