The penguins nest in their old concrete "caves" as well as in these white boxes, and have an indoor pool. They don't have access to an outdoor pool while their compound is being remodeled, but they do get outside when their temporary quarters are being cleaned. The Zoo's video about the new compound (in Danish) shows that it's going to be a real penguin paradise!
Finally after living in our house for over 8 months the utility company is hooking up our permanent connection.
Up until now we had a temporary connection in the builder's name and I made sure the bill got paid every month. There was just this wire you see in front of the workman running to a meter and and from the meter three small gauge wires connected to the line running into the house.
I have been to Union Fenosa, the utility company, five times in the past few months trying to get them to switch this over. Ursula usually went with me as her Spanish is fluent. No matter, it was always something: the Bombero (fire dept.) inspection is expired, I don't have the proper stamps, etc etc. etc. I'll still have to go back to secure my Pensionado discount even though I've given them my Pensionado ID card twice.
On Monday I decided try to call them and see what I can do. With my limited vocabulary I managed to convey my frustration and voila, Tuesday morning there they were. Three hombres ready to work.
I am AMPED UP!!
YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was assassinated in a bombing in 2005. Apparently they're waiting until a proper monument is built to formally bury him.
Rothbury Bridge was badly damaged in the bad weather in the previous winter, and at time of this shot was closed for major repair work. To join the two parts of Rothbury during the works, two temporary bridges were put in place over the river Coquet, a single track vehicle (on which a car is seen going away from the camera) and a pedestrian bridge compete with passing place.
As it was quite dark when we arrived in Mountain Lagoon, and I didn't have a tripod with me, I am surprised that most of my shots turned out sharp, albeit grainy. The light camera and lens combination is proving quite valuable shooting at low light levels.
It looks like the 35 f2 lens has some vignetting wide open. Need to investigate further.
Canon 3000n 35 f2 Kodak Gold 400 (expired very long time ago, when my father in law was still using film)

The new temporary circulation desk set up near what will be the temporary entrance during the construction period.
I arrived, there was no traffic. Not very interesting. Bit of traffic arrived. Still not that interesting. Bloke with a wheelbarrow? Interesting yet?
Wide.
Colourful imagery adorning a temporary screen around a building site in Merida, an example of the Mexican love of mural painting.
While in Michigan and separated from my trusty Subaru, I rented this car from the Traverse City airport - a 2014 Kia Soul. Equipped with a 6-speed auto and Bluetooth, it did well cruising 950 miles to Toronto and back.
