The temple was built in Tang Dynasty. After six times of fire, sixteen times of enlargement and repair in Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was built to be today’s size in 1882 AD (the eighth year of Guangxu Emperor, Qing Dynasty). It covers an area of 9,8000 square meters.

The temple is of nine layers and four courtyards. It consists of Jiuxing Door, Kuixing Pavilion, Yubei Pavilion, Jiaying Door, Yushu House, Main Hall, Bedroom, east and west side doors and four turrets.

The Main Hall is the main body of the building, with the largest scale, which is also called Big Hall or Shengdi Hall. It is 24 meters high, with 72 stone stelae, symbolizing the 72 peaks of Southern Sacred Mountain.

The wood carving of jumping dragon and flying phoenix under the eaves and the wood carving on the door are very delicate.

Jojakkoji Temple is a hidden gem in Arashiyama on Kyoto's Western edge. During autumn the plethora of maple trees turn beautiful shades of crimson and orange as the season turns the gardens into a wonderland.

I decided to release this old picture taken last March 15, 2006, in conjunction with the events that are happening in Burma (Myanmar). This is a Buddhist Temple run by Buddhist Monks from Thailand. Get more information from the Buddhist Temple set.

This temple was one of the first pictures I treated with HDR. My camera at that time was my reliable Casio Exilim EX-Z57. I still find the pictures good for HDRs. I just have to bring my tripod with me always since I have to manually change the exposures if I want to process the pictures as HDRs. But this just shows you that even a point and shoot camera can produce good quality HDRs. I still got my Exilim but I'm relying heavily now on my Nikon D200 that can shoot fast for up to 9xp. Normally, I go for 5xp or at least 3xp and usually handheld with my D200.

I hope you will like this version.

Temple’ is a 21-foot painted bronze sculpture that weighs over three tonnes. Made in 2008, it presents a male torso whose partial exposure reveals the underlying musculature and organs. The artwork illustrates Hirst’s long-standing interest

in anatomical models, which were initially featured alongside pharmaceutical packaging and specimen jars in his early ‘Medicine Cabinet’ series. ‘Temple’ succeeds other monumental anatomical models made by Hirst, including ‘Hymn’ (1999-2005), which was inspired by a model belonging to Hirst’s son, Connor. The artist explains: “I loved it that it was [like] a toy [...] similar to a medical thing, but much happier, friendlier, more colourful and bright.”

East Bank/Egypt 2019 (Luxor Temple ("the southern sanctuary" in ancient Thebes) was constructed approximately 1400 BCE. Luxor temple is not dedicated to a cult god or a deified version of the king in death. Instead Luxor temple is dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship; it may have been where many of the kings of Egypt were crowned in reality or conceptually.

There are chapels built by Amenhotep III of the 18th Dynasty, and Alexander. Other parts of the temple were built by Tutankhamun and Ramesses II. During the Roman era, the temple and its surroundings were a legionary fortress and the home of the Roman government in the area...)

The Temple of Saturn has eight surviving columns and was built in 42 BC. The older temple dated from 497 BC but the ruins are from 42 BC. Saturn was regarded as the god-king of Italy and every year at the end of December the Romans celebrated Saturn with the festival called Saturnalia. During the holidays the Romans couldn’t declare war or punish prisoners and the aristocrats would eat and drink with their slaves.

The Khajuraho Group of Monuments in Khajuraho, a town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, located in Chhatarpur District, about 620 kilometres (385 mi) southeast of New Delhi, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Khajuraho has the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculptures.

Between 950 and 1150, the Chandela monarchs built these temples when the Tantric tradition may have been accepted. In the days before the Mughal conquests, when boys lived in hermitages, following brahmacharya until they became men, they could learn about the world and prepare themselves to become householders through examining these sculptures and the worldly desires they depicted.

The name Khajuraho, ancient "Kharjuravāhaka", is derived from the Sanskrit words kharjura = date palm and vāhaka = "one who carries". Locals living in the Khajuraho village always knew about and kept up the temples as best as they could. They were pointed out to the English in the late 19th century when the jungles had taken a toll on the monuments. In the 19th century, British engineer T.S. Burt arrived in the area, followed by General Alexander Cunningham. Cunningham put Khajuraho on the world map when he explored the site on behalf of the Archaeological Survey of India and described what he found in glowing terms. The Khajuraho Group of Monuments has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is considered to be one of the "seven wonders" of India.
