We took the boat out from Heliconia to the Yavari / Javary river in the morning to search for (pink) river dolphins. Our guide knew a couple of locations that were popular with the animals. In one we alternatiely let our boat drift silently, and then restarted it to change positions, among a small pod of dolphins each of which would emerge regularly for air. The dolphins (in at least one case a mother with baby) posed a challenge as they only emerged for short times - and often not where I expected them - as if they were deliberately zig-zagging under the water in some form of evasive action. Unlike the grey ocean dolphins of Ecuador the river dolphins never jumped fully out into the air.

While we were on the water we met a fisheman known to our guide and admired his catch. We stopped in Santa Rita (on the Peruvian side of the Yavari). The settlement's inhabitants were welcoming but we were disappointed to learn that the tiny store did not stock beer (we had wanted to buy some for dinner as the Heliconia also didn't have any). It would be another healthy day of fruit juice and coffee.

In 2022, I returned to Colombia. The main purpose of this trip was to explore the Amazonian rainforest areas near Leticia and then on the Rio Negro. In 2007 I was in the Leticia area on a volunteering project and the 2022 trip gave me the chance to see more of the area.

As these are border areas, with the rivers travelled actually being the borders, I also visited / transitted through Brazil, Peru and Venezuela. I will create one master set / album for the entire six week trip, plus separate country albums to help viewers who are interested only in a specific country.

I also spent time in Bogota and in the Boyaca region. Overall intinerary: London - Leticia - Bogota - Villavincenzio - Rio Negro - Puerto Inirida - Bogota (incl Nemocon) - Villa de Leyva - Tunja - Bogota - London.

They'll be back in two weeks. Take a seat.

An old fence right on the shore of Hurworth Burn reservoir, kind of reminds me of rotting teeth! You cant normally get down here but the water level is pretty low so for now its accessible. Sun was setting on the right which turned the clouds red and cast a nice glow on the fence.

Macro Monday: Teeth

By Dulce Tyler to Ci9

Prairie dog’s teeth grow continuously. We get a good look here.

Valles Caldera National Preserve. New Mexico

This small teeth give me a few scratches when playing, but of course they are worth it!

Just a little size comparison. I know before I got the set I hadn't really seen the dragon relative to much and so was a little confused as to his size.

Last year at this time the first butterflies of the season were flying, but this year March has teeth!

(4.12.12) Unless you are blind i'm sure you have noticed I have braces. I have had them for over a year now. I have a gap in my teeth where I had a baby tooth pulled in october. My perminent tooth was literally in the middle of the roof of my mouth. They had to dig in there and find it and then put a bracket on it to pull it in place. It has been six months now that i've had this gap and I hate it. Today I decided to try and see if I could see the tooth so I got out a hand mirror (smallest mirror I had) stuck it in my mouth and then looked in my bathroom mirror. I was soooo excited to see how far it has moved. With the wedding coming up the orthodontist said she could make me a fake tooth for the wedding but i'm really hoping my own tooth will be in place in time! yay

P.S. Sorry if this picture grosses anyone out.
